2022: Supply of 30-megawatt steam turbine PR-30

One of the pulp and cardboard producers in Russia - Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill - retains plans to modernize its energy system. This was confirmed by the signing of a contract worth 1.4 billion rubles for the supply of a 30-megawatt steam turbine with Rotek, which a month earlier completed warranty tests of a double-capacity plant. This turbine will replace the obsolete turbine plant of the same capacity. The second joint project will be again implemented without state subsidies. This was announced on May 16, 2022 by Rotek.

One of the timber-chemical enterprises of Russia and East Europe planned an increase in productions the final products, which must be provided electricity with heat. In addition, the mill's focus on reducing environmental impact helps to find more eco-friendly solutions in the field of generation. The first such decision was the inclusion ATSBK of a 60 MW turbine in the power system, which in April 2022 was provided by Rotek.

"The delivery of the second turbine will be the beginning of a global program of restructuring the plant's power system, according to which our existing four coal-dust boilers will be switched to gas, as well as three more gas boilers will be built. A lengthy and rather serious tender allowed us to choose a contractor with a high level of competence in the field of energy equipment, "-

noted Dmitry Zylev, General Director of the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill.

The PR-30 turbine manufactured by the Ural Turbine Plant will be equipped with the Prana predictive analytics system, which was developed and implemented by the contractor. In the current economic situation and conditions of limited imports, the ability to monitor the state of energy equipment, predict the schedule for the purchase of spare parts and prevent major accidents becomes quite important in maintaining the reliability of power systems.

"The commissioning of technological equipment will increase the reliability and efficiency of the energy supply of the enterprise, will give a pronounced environmental effect, minimize downtime, and will also optimize the service fund,"

noted Rotek CEO Evgeny Rubtsov.

The capacity of the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill power plant is 185 MW, which is only two times less than the large generation facility of the city - Arkhangelskaya CHPP-2 (450 MW). In addition to its own needs, it provides heat and light to Novodvinsk, where 37 thousand people live. Employees of the enterprise make up about a tenth of the population of this city. In this regard, it is noteworthy that the modernization of the TPP was carried out without attracting state subsidies.

The cooperation of companies continues not only in the field of energy. Annually, the Arkhangelsk plant invests significant resources in environmental protection measures. One of them will be the modernization of treatment facilities, the design of which is carried out by Rotek.
