X5 Group will deploy cloud in data center Selectel

2022: Provide infrastructure to launch a cloud platform

On May 17, 2022, the company Selectel announced the provision of infrastructure for the launch cloudy of the platform - X5 Group private cloud Salt based on open source the technologies and developments of the X5 Group. The infrastructure is provided in the "as a DPC service" model.

Salt offers internal users, project and product teams a range of capabilities, including infrastructure and platform services, as well as a set of automated processes that allow the project/product team to quickly enter the cloud with all the necessary security settings and tools.

To accommodate the platform, Selectel not only provided X5 Group with dedicated servers of arbitrary (casual) configurations, dedicated network equipment, communication channels and dedicated racks, but also provides monitoring and operation of all equipment and communication channels, guaranteeing X5 Group a high level of SLA - 99.7% for communication channels and 99.99 for the rest of the equipment. For the X5 Group, it was also important that the speed of entering new capacities from the occurrence of demand to their appearance in the data center in a fully ready-to-use form.

All this allows X5 Group to deal directly with the development of its cloud platform and its operation, transferring all issues related to the operation and development of the supporting infrastructure to Selectel.

The Salt X5 cloud operates in two data centers - in its own in Moscow and Selectel in St. Petersburg. In St. Petersburg, the company's infrastructure is located in the Selectel Flower-2 data center, corresponding to the Tier III level. The total capacity of the data center is 7.3 MW, the server area is 1886 m ². Uninterrupted power supply of the data center is provided by dynamic UPS with 4/3 redundancy scheme (N + 1). As a result, Selectel saves power and loads equipment more productively.
