2022: Provision of low-floor trams with DAT-72 traction motors
On May 18, 2022, the Industrial Development Fund (FRP) announced that the Sarapul Electric Generator Plant (SEGZ, Sarapul, Udmurtia) opened a site for the production of heavy traction motors for low-floor trams, which will allow replacing the products of European manufacturers on the Russian market.
The volume investments import-substituting production in amounted to 268.6 million, rubles of which 200 million rubles - the preferential credit federal "Development Fund" under the industries program "Conversion," the rest - the company's own funds.
The DAT-72 engine was developed by SEGZ specialists and is made of Russian materials. At the initial stage, it is planned to produce 1000 products per year.
"Thanks to the support of shareholders, the plant has developed a good tradition - every year we invest most of the profits in the development of our enterprise, in the construction and reconstruction of the main production. Thanks to this, as well as the great support from the Government of Udmurtia and federal institutions, such as the Industrial Development Fund, we can launch such large investment projects, " said Chairman of the Board of Directors of SEGZ Vitaly Shurygin. |
The main customer of the DAT-72 engines was the Russian manufacturer of passenger electric transport company PK Transport Systems (PC TS). When developing low-floor trams, the company sought suppliers of traction engines in Russia and Europe, in particular, in Austria. In the end, they were able to produce a compact electric motor of quite high power at the SEGZ.
"Our first trams were with imported engines. As of mid-May 2022, it is a Russian engine with optimized parameters. Sarapul Electric Generator Plant is distinguished by a serious approach to the organization of production. This is important for us, "- said Deputy Director for Product Development "PC Transport Systems" Sergey Ivanov. |
The key features of the created engine are increased service life, lower price compared to imported analogues with comparable technical characteristics. In addition, an important feature of the Sarapul engines will be their protection of bearing units from electric erosion. This electric transport problem can lead to engine failure.
"Open production is a serious step in the development of the plant and in the whole industry of the republic. This is the implementation of the diversification program set by the President of the Russian Federation. The plant exceeds the diversification indicators set by the Government of the Russian Federation, "- commented on the opening of the production site by the Minister of Industry and Trade of Udmurtia Viktor Lashkarev. |
Revenue from the project will be more than 500 million rubles a year. 150 jobs were created at the open area, employees who will work in the production of DAT-72 will be trained at the SEGZ corporate training center.
"In a short time, we completely" from scratch "developed the design documentation for this engine, with the help of the technical service we quickly made samples and put them for testing on a tram. Prepared production, equipped, bought current technological equipment. Of course, this would not have happened if not for the concrete, real support of the head of the Udmurt Republic, Alexander Vladimirovich Brechalov, the Ministry of Industry of the Udmurt Republic and, of course, the Board of Directors of the Sarapul Electric Generator Plant, "- said the general director of the enterprise Alexey Belyaev. |
Until the last time 75% of traction motors for Russian low-floor trams were purchased Czech Republic in Austria. The creation of domestic production in Sarapul will help replace up to 50% of imports and will make it possible to equip up to 250 trams per year.
Trams of the 71-931M Vityaz series and 71-911EM Lionwenok, on which the domestic electric motor is installed, are operated in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm, Ulan-Ude, Cherepovets, Ulyanovsk, Izhevsk and Krasnoyarsk.
According to the ВЭБ.РФ Index, the average age of a tram fleet in large cities of the country is about 26 years. It will be updated as part of the federal program for the modernization of urban electric transport with the involvement of infrastructure budget loans, funds from the National Welfare Fund, financing of ВЭБ.РФ and private investors-concessionaires. One of the goals of the program is to update at least 1,500 tram cars.
