2022: Service Announcement

On May 23, 2022, it became known about the work of the Russian online service for the early detection of melanoma. The platform is available in 30 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, and by the end of 2022 it will become available throughout the country, project developer Sergei Yakunin told TASS.

A service called "Check the Mole Online" is designed to conduct self-examination for risk factors for skin cancer. To assess the condition of the skin, the user not only answers each of the six questions, but also compares his moles and keratomas with the images presented. The service uses real photographs of formations corresponding to the norm or pathology - a change in color, shape, size, outline, structure of the mole.

Service for detecting melanoma using a smartphone camera launched in Russia

The developers of the "Check the mole online" service cite the following possibilities:

  • as one of the stages of diagnostics in the offices and departments of medical prevention, Health Centers;
  • in the form of a QR code for placement in booklets, on brochures, flyers on the prevention of cancer, during mass events and actions aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle;
  • as a module of sites of medical and non-medical organizations for self-diagnosis of users.

If the test shows deviations, the person will receive a recommendation for a visit to a dermatologist and a list of medical institutions where you can undergo an in-depth examination.

By the end of May 2022, the service works on VKontakte, in the Telegram messenger, the voice assistant Alice. Smart assistants help citizens know what melanoma is than it is dangerous. In total, about 7 thousand citizens were tested. Potentially, the practice helped save the lives of 6.7 thousand people who had alarming bells, Yakunin said. According to him, by May 23, 2022, more than 10 thousand people became users of the service.
