2022: Obtaining a patent

On May 25, 2022, DS-Robotics announced the receipt of a patent for the development of: an autonomous modular cell for performing a large range of assembly operations with an optical vision system. The author of the invention is the head of the project department of the company, Roman Pleshakov.

As the general director of DS-Robotics Mikhail Zotov noted, the solution is based on two robots of the ABB IRB 1200 model, combined by the developer into a compact production complex. The system independently extracts the necessary components from the exchange container and places it on a mobile platform, which delivers the workpiece to the work area of the manipulator hand for the production operation (welding, soldering, etc.). Optical vision technology allows the robot to accurately position components relative to each other. Further, depending on the configuration of the system, the robot can automatically transfer the product to the next stage of the production process, and if it is not built into the line, put it into an exchange container. The bookmark/unload of the finished assembly from this container remains the only operations that require human participation.

The pilot project was implemented by us back in 2017. One of the customers needed a solution for automating soldering displays of automotive security systems (high-precision and reliable connection of a flexible display loop to a printed circuit board). We created a robotic complex from scratch, which took up a very small area at the customer's site (only 4 m2) and replaced the manual labor of 28 installers. After that, we decided to patent the solution, since for all its peculiarity it is quite universal, - said Mikhail Zotov.
