At the end of April, an international exhibition of MWR-2022 was held in Moscow. At the stand of NPO Akonit, the largest supplier of equipment for the mining industry, a unique solution for the Russian market was presented, developed bythe POINT Laboratory company (part of the POINT group of companies) specifically for Akonit.

What is it?

The development is a personal account of the user on the company's website. Thanks to it, customers of NPO Akonit were able to automatically not only configure the product, but also place an order without the participation of sales or production specialists. The uniqueness of the solution lies in the fact that it connects client service, design process, production and logistics into a single chain, which has not yet been found in the domestic software market.

How does it work?

The NPO Akonit database contains all previously designed products and parts. The customer gets access to this database through his personal account, where he can select any product by setting the necessary search criteria. The list of these criteria is quite wide, but the intelligent system simplifies the selection by reducing the list of conditions suitable for the request with each entry.

An important feature is that if the requested model has not been released before, the system will automatically generate it in a matter of minutes based on the parameters entered by the customer. Then you can view the 3D image of the product, get the finished drawing and find out the current price, which changes dynamically depending on the number of products in the order, seasonality, cost of raw materials and other factors.

Configuring (querying) a new product

All these functions make up the CPQ part of the system, but the development capabilities of the POINT Laboratory go far beyond its limits. What happens when a customer clicks on the "Order" button? By linking all stages of the product lifecycle, the system sends order information to the CAD application, where the necessary models and construction documentation sets are automatically generated. NPO Akonit uses Autodesk Inventor for this purpose. After that, the finished engineering data is transferred for verification to the designers. When the system receives confirmation of approval, all this is automatically transferred to production.

Shopping Cart and New Order Placement

Another plus of this unique development in integration with the ERP system of NPO Akonit. After sending the product to production, an intelligent search for the necessary components and materials in the company database takes place. The system sees which of them are already available, and notes that of the missing elements it is necessary to produce or re-order. This saves production time and streamlines logistics, which in turn affects the quality and cost of services for the customer. Thus, the system provides a completely automatic process from pressing the "Order" button to delivering finished products to customers of NPO "Akonit."
