2024: Revenue growth of 8.2% to $22.7 billion
At the end of 2024, the Turkish airline Turkish Airlines received revenue in the amount of $22.7 billion. This is 8.2% more than in the previous year, when the indicator was at the level of $20.9 billion. Such data are contained in materials that TAdviser got acquainted with at the end of September 2025.
Turkish Airlines' annual passenger revenue climbed 4% despite growing competition. During 2024, the airline served 83.4 million passengers, which is 2.1% more compared to 2023. Passenger transportation accounts for 84.6% of total income, or $19.2 billion.
In the direction of freight transportation, an increase of 35% was recorded compared to 2023, which indicates the strengthening of Turkey's position as a global transit hub. Total revenue from cargo transportation in 2024 reached $3.5 billion against $2.6 billion a year earlier. In 2024, Turkish Airlines transported a little more than 2 million tons of various cargo and mail, which is 20.6% more than the previous year, when 1.66 million tons were transported. The volume of domestic cargo transportation increased by 8% - to 60.48 thousand tons, and international - by 21%, to 1.94 million tons. It is noted that the share of freight traffic in total revenue in 2024 amounted to 15.4% compared to 12% in 2023. In 2020 and 2021, at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the figure was 40.4% and 37.6%, respectively, while in 2022, amid the weakening of coronavirus restrictions, it decreased to 20.3%.
Net profit of Turkish Airlines in 2024 amounted to $2.4 billion. The company continues to expand its fleet of aircraft: their number in annual terms increased by 12%, reaching 492. By 2033, the air carrier intends to bring this number to 800 units.[1]

2023: Cancelling all flights from Istanbul and stopping ticket sales due to IT collapse
On 1 November 2023, Turkish Airlines cancelled all flights from Istanbul and halted ticket sales due to a technical glitch. The airline promised to compensate for accommodation costs, refunds and "any possible costs."
On November 1, 2023, a notice was published on the Turkish Airlines website, according to which all Turkish Airlines flights from Istanbul from 19:00 to 22:00 were canceled due to problems with the reservation system. The problems did not end there - according to the airport scoreboard, cancellations also affected a number of night flights. At the same time, other airlines had almost no cancellations, there were delays in departures for 2-3 hours. As the press service of Istanbul International Airport clarified, most of Turkish Airlines' international flights took off on time, while domestic flights were canceled.
On the page of the Turkish air carrier on the social network X (formerly Twitter, the social network is blocked in Russia), it is reported that there are failures in the operation of the Turkish Airlines infrastructure, including in ticket sales and booking systems. The company also warned that there may be interruptions in the work of the site, mobile application and some networks.
On the night of Thursday, November 2, 2023 (Moscow time), the official representative of Turkish Airlines, Yahya Ustyun, said that the company had discovered and eliminated its own in its IT system.

2022: Company Name Change
In mid-June 2022, it became known about the renaming of Turkish Airlines. The Turkish airline will be called Turkiye Hava Yollar.

The decision to rebrand the air carrier was made as part of the implementation of the program to recognize the country in the international arena as Turkiye, and not Turkey. According to the authorities of the republic, this measure will increase the prestige of the country.
On June 2, 2022 , the United Nations (UN) approved the request of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu to change the name of the country in foreign languages. The name of the state in official international documents has changed from Turkey to Turkiye.
