At the moment, in the Department of Digital Transformation, for two weeks, employees have been successfully fulfilling their duties under the control of the domestic operating system and office suite, "says Alexander Maslov, Director of the Department of Digital Transformation of the Ministry of Economy, to the heads of other departments of the department (an excerpt from the document is quoted by Forbes on July 1, 2022).

At the same time, it is specified that the complete abandonment of Windows 10 from the American Microsoft has not yet happened. Employees can still work with documents in Microsoft Office, follows from the letter.

Maslov instructed department directors to select 2-3 employees from each department within a week to switch to Astra Linux. So the Ministry of Economic Development wants to expand the list of participants in the experiment and make the transition to domestic software more "soft." The pilot team will replace the Windows 10 operating system with Astra Linux with a P7 office package.

According to Forbes, at least 76 ministry officials will participate in the pilot (in total, about one and a half thousand people are employed in the department). Moreover, Minek has been using Alt Linux since 2019.

The developer of the ALT operating system, the BASEALT company, does not participate in the Minek pilot by July 1, 2022, but the department is negotiating the possible use of ALT, Roman Myskin, commercial director of BASEALT, told the publication. According to him, similar pilots are held in many departments (for example, the FCS and the Federal Treasury) and state-owned companies (Russian Railways, Sberbank), as well as in some regional departments.[1]
