SAP will start mobile ERP, CRM and BI

For the first time after closing in July of the transaction on Sybase purchase the SAP corporation announced plans for "mobilization" of all the main business applications. According to plans of the company, in the next nine months the accessibility to the systems of the company from all main mobile devices and mobile operating systems will be implemented.

SAP announced plans for development of the mobile platform Sybase which is recently purchased by corporation together with the company of the same name for 3.7 billion euros. In particular, SAP is going to release within the coming nine months new tools for developers which will allow the third parties to create mobile applications which will have access to databases of business systems from SAP in real time.

The new mobile platform will support all main mobile operating systems and devices, representatives of corporation said. Besides, in SAP promise to modify all main lines of business applications, including SAP ERP, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP Business Objects Data Services and business intelligence (BI) so that they could interact with mobile applications based on the new platform.

In particular, SAP certifies the Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) database for use with Business Suite. Until, however, the decision is made whether earlier versions of the ERP system, in particular, SAP R/3 will be certified as well.

"We are not going to port applications on mobile devices, but we will provide access to SAP applications by means of such devices", - the codirector of SAP Jim Hagermann Snafe explained . "It is first of all about use of mobile devices in front end, how sales managers have access to the accounts and analytical information by means of iPad", - he added.

According to the CEO of Sybase John Chen who and remained at the head of independently managed company after the transaction with SAP, Sybase and SAP developed similar approaches to further development of strategy of on demand, on device and on premise. The announcement of mobile CRM and workflow on Cebit then teams of engineers of both companies long time cooperated even before transaction became start of implementation of this joint strategy.

SAP considers Sybase technology as the tool which will allow to expand considerably the existing customer base in the markets, strategic for the company, for example, in China where mobile phones and other devices are actively used by business as an alternative the PC.
