On July 4, 2022, Rosatom State Corporation presented a developed middle-class PLM system named SARUS.PLM.

The completion of the main stage of development and the name of the software product, as well as the preparation of its commercial release in 2023, has been announced.

The software is designed to digitalize the life cycle of products - from design to operation - in the engineering industry.

The name SARUS.PLM contains a reference to the place of its creation - the city of Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod Region, which houses the development enterprise the Russian Federal Nuclear Center - the All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics (RFNC-VNIIEF), which is part of the nuclear industry circuit.

The development of industrial systems, which include modules for different stages of the product life cycle, is a long and time-consuming process. World experience in creating such systems dates back up to 40 years. In view of the current challenges, Rosatom solved the problem of developing such a solution in a radically shorter time. We were able to accelerate our work thanks to the fundamental experience of the corporation in the field of supercomputer computing and mathematical modeling, as well as a large managerial experience that made it possible to assemble a team and motivate Russian partner vendors to work together. As a result, we achieved serious acceleration, including in terms of the development of competencies, - said Evdokia Rukavishnikova, deputy director for digitalization - director of the Industrial Solutions program at Rosatom.

As of July 2022, Rosatom actively cooperates with Russian industrial enterprises and integrators on testing the PLM system and its active use in production processes.

SARUS.PLM is a completely domestic digital solution independent of foreign technologies: the system is developed on the basis of the sovereign Russian geometric core RGK ('Russian Geometric Kernel') for working with 3D objects and integration with domestic CAD.

The solution has a version for both the commercial market and a protected version for defense industry enterprises.

SARUS.PLM will be able to be used in enterprises using different types of production. The product is developed within the framework of a modular concept: its main elements are the management of the enterprise as a whole, as well as the life cycle of directly produced products.

The system has been created since 2018 in the interests of the nuclear industry and defense industry. Testing at Rosatom enterprises allows you to offer external customers digital products that take into account the experience of practical operation and the high requirements of the nuclear industry.

PLM-class software (Product Lifecycle Management) is one of the main classes of industrial software, the development of which is carried out in accordance with the roadmap for the development of the high-tech field "New Production Technologies," approved by the Government of the Russian Federation in 2021.
