Biography

In 2010 he joined Group-IB, and already in 2012 he headed the Digital Forensics Laboratory.

For 9 years of work as the head of the Laboratory, Baulin managed to form a team of professionals in the field of computer forensics and incident response, increasing the staff by 5 times. The Group-IB forensic qualification is confirmed by international Global Information Assurance Certification.

Under the leadership of Baulin, services and services in the field of forensics were developed and launched: Compromise Assessment (identification of traces of compromise and signs of preparation) hacker attacks , Managed Detection and Response Managed Threat Hunting, Incident Response Retainer (a set of services for prompt response to incidents), INFORMATION SECURITY eDiscovery (collection of digital evidence on internal corporate investigations) insurance and cyber risk programs.

In 2019-2021, the Laboratory's revenue in the Group-IB revenue structure increased 2 times, and revenue from the direction of training increased more than 5 times.

Since 2021, Baulin has been responsible for Group-IB for business development in the direction of Cybersecurity Services, which has combined the Digital Forensics Laboratory, the training department and the CERT-GIB Information Security Incident Response Center, operating 24/7.

2022: Group-IB Regional Director for Russia and CIS

On July 8, 2022, Group-IB announced the appointment of Valery Baulin, Regional Director in Russia and the CIS, who was previously responsible for business development in the direction of Cybersecurity Services. This position in the company was introduced as part of the separation of Russian assets from international ones, which was announced on July 6.

In Russia and the CIS, a completely autonomous structure has already been created, the management of which has been transferred to local management led by Valery Baulin. He will be responsible for business development in Russia and the CIS, budget execution, increasing the local team, bringing new Group-IB services and products to the Russian market.

The Russian division of Group-IB for July 2022 is absolutely autonomous and self-sufficient, we are increasing resources for further expansion into the regions of Russia and the CIS countries, - said Valery Baulin, regional director of Group-IB. - This, first of all, concerns the strengthening of the technical team in the Moscow headquarters: we have 70 vacancies, most of which are technical specialists.

Local management bought out the Russian business Group-IB. At the same time, the new owners retained all contracts with Russian customers, as well as products, technologies and services developed in the country.
