The IT company completed the project on upgrade of a hardware-software technology platform of the multifunction information system (MIS) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation in August, 2010. The "Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation Data Processing Center" (Data-processing Centre of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation Federal State Institution) Federal state institution acted as the customer of these works.
The IT company acquired the right to implementation of this project based on the open competition held at the end of last year. By then at the customer need of upgrade of the existing computing systems, performance improvements of servers and consolidation of all operational data in uniform storage ripened. It was caused by the fact that all systems worked on separate servers, reservation of data was not adjusted and, as a result, the probability of loss of information in case of failure of any component of computing infrastructure was very high.
The data-processing center of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation made a choice for benefit of the solution using technology of virtualization as it allowed to construct the flexible infrastructure ready to operational change according to assigned tasks at rather small costs and also to provide further balance, planning and accounting of use of computing powers of hardware.
In the project progress specialists of IT company booked audit of the existing ICT infrastructure, and then performed delivery and installation of the necessary equipment, created virtual infrastructure and provided transfer in it all information services in the online mode (without interruption of access for users to them). A blade-HP servers BL460G6, a storage system of Kraftway ESVA with a capacity of 4.8 of Tb and also software of virtualization of VMware vSphere Enterprise Edition were delivered to the customer five.
And the old equipment of data-processing center of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation was also used at deployment of the reserve computing platform which allowed to provide higher availability of the main information services.
The computing infrastructure created by specialists IT has a number of indisputable advantages. So, at the disposal of IT specialists of the customer there was a centralized management console a server framework. With its help IT specialists of the ministry can flexibly distribute resources now under necessary applications therefore terms of deployment of new services considerably decreased and also a downtime of information resources decreased. The solution allowed to lower purchase costs of the additional server hardware also significantly.
Further based on the IT company of infrastructure of data-processing center of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Russian Federation constructed by specialists plans creation of a single system of inventory of infrastructure of the ministry and also a centralized system of ServiceDesk.
