2022: Presentation of the apparatus for production from the air of medical oxygen with purity of 96%

In September 2022, Schwabe presented an apparatus for the production of medical oxygen from the air. The device is designed to centrally equip medical institutions, connects to the hospital network and produces gaseous oxygen from the air with a purity of up to 96%. It is this oxygen that is used in the departments of anesthesiology, resuscitation, intensive care and operating units.

An oxygen concentrator called "SKO-16" connects to a ventilator, releases oxygen from the environment, cleans and disinfects it, and then delivers it as a sterile stream to the patient. During the cleaning process, not only bacteria are removed from the air, but also the smallest dangerous particles - viruses and allergens.

If the permissible oxygen pressure is exceeded, the device is automatically turned off and gives an audible signal. The use of concentrators will not depend on the possibility of connecting to the oxygen supply system in the ward, which will allow installing ventilators even in rooms not intended for this. Thus, hospitals will be able to use more ventilators if necessary.

As part of the Schwabe holding, the device is being developed by the Polyus Research Institute named after M.F. Stelmakh.

The oxygen concentrator is not only for intensive care units. It can serve as a means of preventing and improving well-being in healthy people. In this case, only one such device is able to provide pure oxygen from eight to ten people. The key feature of the device is its effectiveness when used even in rooms with dusty or rarefied air, - said Sergey Dmitrochenko, deputy general director of the Shvabe holding.[1]
