A plant for the production of medical oxygen was built in Dagestan for 120 million rubles

On September 27, 2022, the official launch of the first medical oxygen plant in the North Caucasus Federal District took place. The company's enterprise "Trastfarma" was opened in the village of Lenincent, Kirovsky District, Makhachkala. More than 120 million rubles were invested in the project, of which 80.7 million rubles were provided in the form of a loan by the Industrial Development Fund under the program "Countering Epidemic Diseases," another 40 million rubles were invested by the initiator of the project. In September 2022, Schwabe presented an apparatus for the production of medical oxygen from the air. The device is designed to centrally equip medical institutions, connects to the hospital network and produces gaseous oxygen from the air with a purity of up to 96%. The hospital in Kommunarka buys medical oxygen for a year ahead for 176 million rubles.

In October 2021, the City Clinical Hospital No. 40 of Kommunarka announced a tender for the supply of more than 8 thousand tons of liquid medical oxygen. Russia started buying medical oxygen from Kazakhstan and Finland due to its shortage

Russia began purchasing medical oxygen in Kazakhstan and Finland due to its shortage. This was announced in mid-July 2021 by the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov during a meeting of the Presidium of the Government Coordination Council for the fight against coronavirus COVID-19.

According to him, medical oxygen is imported from Finland in small quantities of 20 tons to meet oxygen needs in the northwestern part of Russia. At the same time, it is planned to agree with Finland on the supply of 240 tons of oxygen per month. In addition, the country is negotiating the supply of oxygen with China, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.

He added that by July 2021, four main plants in the Russian Federation produce medical oxygen for the needs of Russian hospitals. All of them are loaded at full capacity. Oxygen accounts for 90% of all products produced at these enterprises.

Denis Manturov stressed that a large number of enterprises of chemistry, metallurgy, oil refining, shipbuilding, the nuclear industry and the military-industrial complex have allocated more than 100 tons of the daily volume of technical oxygen for its processing into medical. According to him, the number of regions where there is an acute shortage of medical oxygen has decreased from nine to five by mid-July 2021. Altai and Trans-Baikal Territories deserve special attention.

At the same time, the minister assured that regarding medical equipment using oxygen, "we do not experience any problems."[1]
