AutoCAD will leave under Mac 20 years later

Autodesk is going to announce on Thursday an exit of the flagman system for industrial design and engineering of AutoCAD under the Macintosh platform: such version will appear for the first time in nearly two decades.

Return of AutoCAD to Mac will allow Apple to strengthen considerably positions in competitive market of personal computers, first of all at the expense of business clients where the company already achieved quite good achievements in the recent past. By own estimates of Autodesk, at the moment the AutoCAD system is used by about 10 million clients around the world. According to the company, requests from clients for a system exit under Mac arrived lately even more often.

"From our party this final confirmation of that fact that the clients who are engaged in engineering and project work again seriously perceive Macintosh", -Amar Hanspal, the vice president for platform solutions of Autodesk [[Hanspal Amar|]] said.

AutoCAD on the Mac platform was no time is incredibly popular. However, the share of Apple in the market of personal computers in 1990e significantly decreased years therefore released the latest version of the main system under Mac Autodesk in 1992, its support was stopped in 1994. At the same time these years under Mac there was other software, including the software for the industry of production of entertainments. According to Hanspal, now Autodesk cannot just ignore Macintosh return.

According to Gartner analytical company, 10% of the market of personal computers around the world fell to the share of Mac in the first quarter this year that more than twice it is more, than were only a few years ago. Last quarter Apple sale about 3.5 million units of the legendary computers that is 33% more than similar indicators of last year. Such growth rate much more exceeds growth rates of all PC market.

In the official press release Philip Schiller, the vice president of Apple for product marketing, notes that his company was delighted with the solution of Autodesk to return AutoCAD on Mac. "According to us, it is a perfect mix for professional designers and engineers", - he said.

The version of AutoCAD under Mac will cost $3.995, as much, how many and the version for the PC, and will appear in October. Also AutoDesk announced plans for release of mobile version of the system which will work on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

For obvious reasons, functionality of mobile version will be limited. However, according to Hanspal, with its help the engineer will be able to post, for example, using iPad the works on the website and to supply them with summaries. It can be relevant by job search. It is reported also that mobile version will support all files whether they are created on the PC or Macintosh. AutoDesk also considers the possibility of development of mobile versions of the key systems for other "tablets" presented at the market.
