Start of production

At the end of November 2022, the production of the domestic premium SUV Aurus Komendant was launched at the plant in Yelabuga. The solemn event dedicated to this event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

Production of the domestic premium SUV Aurus Komendant has begun

The machine became the second model of the brand, the assembly of which began at the plant in Yelabuga, which opened less than 1.5 years ago. Aurus noted that the share of Russian materials and components used in the production of an SUV was 70%. These are the main components, power plant, transmission, electronics, interior and decorative solutions.

The car is equipped with the same hybrid power plant with a V8 gasoline turbo engine (598 hp and 880 nm) as the Aurus Senat sedan. The Russian-made nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive system are similar to the Senat model, but they have other calibrations that make it easier to travel off-road.

At the start of sales, nine color exterior options will be available, including three completely new colors. There are also seven interior options, among which two new combinations are presented, including two-color versions. In addition, an armored version of the model is planned.

According to the specialists of the VSK insurance house, the cost of OSAGO for Aurus Komendant, owned by the Moscow car-sharing operator, will vary from 14,934 to 127,260 rubles, depending on the accident rate of the fleet of a particular company.^[1]

At the end of September 2022, Aurus introduced a production version of the Komendant crossover, which also became available for order from dealers. However, it will be possible to get it not immediately, but from the first quarter of 2023. The cost of the car is 33.7 million rubles, which is almost 3 million rubles less than the starting price tag for the Aurus Senat sedan (36.6 million rubles).

With dimensions of 5380x2004x1820 mm and a wheelbase of 3100 mm, the Aurus Komendant is noticeably shorter than the sedan: for example, the distance between the axes was reduced by 200 mm. The company claims that this was done in order to increase the maneuverability of the car, which is also intended for off-road. The trunk volume is 600 liters.

Aurus unveils production version of Komendant crossover

The new SUV is equipped with all-wheel drive with an electric power plant, as well as a 598 hp V8 Twin-turbo engine, 880 Nm torque and 4.4 liters. The new model consists of 70% Russian-made components. Including, the body, engine and gearbox for the car are produced in the Russian Federation.

For the first time, Aurus cars use an adaptive air suspension, which allows you to change the ground clearance from 200 to 260 mm.

Customers will be offered the maximum equipment of the car at once, with nine options for body colors, including three new ones, and seven interior options, including two-color combinations.

Komendant will receive 22-inch wheels and two exclusive colors that are not offered for the sedan - copper and dark emerald. Among the finishing materials are expensive varieties of leather and wooden veneer of Russian origin, including ash root, poplar root and Karelian birch.

According to Artem Yusupov, Sales and Service Director of Aurus, by the end of September 2022, the company continues to expand the geography of Aurus's representation in Russia. In addition to the representative office in Moscow, a brand gallery in St. Petersburg will be opened in the near future, he said.^[2]
