2022: 5G Development Kit release

On October 4, 2022, MTS PJSC announced the launch of the 5G Development Kit, which will help developers and researchers in creating various devices for working in 5G networks - from robots and drones to solutions of the Internet of Things, smart city and home.

5G Development Kit

According to the company, the 5G Development Kit "box" kit includes a 5G DevKit Board debug board with a body, 5G and LTE radio module, antenna set, SIM chip, cable assemblies, power supply, documentation, 5G traffic and software.

5G Development Kit is designed for developers, startups and educational institutions to launch and test prototype devices and work out user scenarios in areas such as telemetry collection and analysis systems; smart city and smart home ecosystems; video surveillance and video analytics systems; video streaming; unmanned transport control and UAVs, robotic complexes based on AI; telemedicine.

Users of the kit can get direct access to research sites and the developed digital ecosystem of MTS: technological laboratories of the StartUp HUB MTS innovation and investment center; cloud infrastructure based on data centers; Big Data and Image Analysis Systems; IoT and AI platforms and other MTS services.

The 5G Development Kit is not only a "radio designer" for the operation of various devices in 5G pilot networks, but also a convenient tool for testing ideas and hypotheses, optimizing their refinement to the stage of commercial products. The kit contains everything you need to connect it directly out of the box to such complex complexes as a self-driving car, drone, IoT platform, robotic system or its use in the form of a separate 5G modem for the host platform.

5G Development Kit

The main characteristics of the 5G Development Kit:

  • compatibility with 5G modules from global manufacturers: Quectel, Telit, Fibocom, SimCom, etc.;
  • use of 5G sub-6GHz, GNSS and 5G mmWave antennas, possible connection
  • antennas of their own production and their placement on the housing;
  • Support for 3GPP 4G/5G Rel specifications. 15;
  • dynamic spectrum allocation between 5G and 4G;
  • transmitter output power LTE/5G: 26 dBm (Power Class 2);
  • connecting to the network using a SIM card or eSIM chip (in MFF2 format);
  • support for voice transmission modes: VoLTE, VoNR;
  • hardware compatibility with a single-board computer Raspberry Pi;
  • support for working on a USB port with OCWindows 10, Linux, Android;
  • connection to PCs and other devices via USB type C - type A (USB 3.1 Gen 2) cable;
  • additional interfaces: PCIe Gen 3 x 1-lane, I2C, GPIO, Digital audio (I2S and PCM);
  • possibility of connection of cooler and arrangement of passive radiator;
  • operation from mains power supply or batteries.
