2022: Implementation of GoodsForecast
Syktyvkar Tissyu Group (STG) has completed the introduction of the GoodsForecast system for forecasting demand and sales planning, which will become the first module of the complex of solutions for integrated business planning at the enterprise. This was announced on October 6, 2022 by GoodsForecast (Gudfokast). Thanks to the implementation of the system, STG can more accurately assess the final demand for its products and, when drawing up production plans, focus on the real volume of consumption, and not just on the history of applications received from retail chains and distribution centers.
The mathematical models underlying the system make it possible to predict demand and sales volume, taking into account past periods, trends, seasonality, [information 'information]] by distribution warehouses and delivery addresses. The calculations take into account SKUs and packaging volumes. The planning horizon is 18 months, so the system allows STG to build a rolling plan for the next year and a half on a monthly basis.
The implementation project took about a year. During this time, the terms of reference were prepared and agreed, the system was deployed, models were developed and configured, data were collected and prepared, pilot operation was completed. As a result, in the spring of 2022, the forecasting system was put into commercial operation. The main complexity and the most time-consuming stage of implementation was the preparation of data for analysis.
Before analyzing the data and setting up mathematical models, key, most important predictive accuracy indicators were recorded and agreed with the STG. During the configuration, several dozen experiments were carried out, which were complicated by a large amount of data: more than 500 product items, more than 2,200 customers, etc. Based on the results of the experiments, seven different models were selected that reflect the dynamics of the key commodity and brand groups of STG. The selected models showed the best results on previously agreed accuracy indicators.
Next, three more units will be implemented to automate supply chain management, inventory management in distribution warehouses and production planning.
We started working with Syktyvkar Tissyu Group back in 2020, when we carried out a small consulting project at their enterprise. As a result of the audit, we made our recommendations, and the management of the enterprise found them practical and working and decided to implement a project with us to implement tools. For us, this is an indicator of customer confidence and the right vector of our own development, when we are able to re-engineer business processes and support it with technological solutions within the framework of a single work plan. comments Sergei Kotik, Development Director of GoodsForecast.
