2023: Failure in the Leonardo system, tickets cannot be bought. Reset

On December 7, 2023, Aeroflot reported a failure of the Leonardo booking system, as a result of which users had problems buying air tickets. The following statement has been published on the airline's official website:

Due to a failure in the Leonardo booking system (Siren-Travel), it is difficult to issue tickets in all sales channels (agents' Aeroflot website, etc.). At the moment, the service provider is taking measures to restore the system to normal operation as soon as possible. At the same time, the passenger registration system at the airport, on the website and in the mobile application works normally. We regret the inconvenience caused

Earlier in 2023, the Russian Leonardo flight booking system was subjected to a massive DDoS attack from abroad, which caused difficulties in registering at airports. Then Red Wings Airlines, as well as Aeroflot and Pobeda, faced difficulties in registering passengers for flights. The malfunctions were also reported in Ural Airlines. The Leonardo platform is used by almost all airlines by the end of 2023.[1]

On the night of December 7-8, 2023, Aeroflot announced the restoration of the Leonardo ticket booking system.

Before the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions in connection with the situation in Ukraine, most Russian airlines used the services of foreign providers of booking systems, in particular, Aeroflot and Pobeda, American Sabre and Navitaire.

2022: Transition to the "Leonardo" system

Aeroflot Airlines from October 29 to October 30, 2022 switches to the Russian system for booking air tickets and registering passengers. During the system change, the company's online services, including the purchase and return of air tickets, will not be available. The company promises that the services will start working at 16:00 on October 30, 2022.

Earlier, Aeroflot representatives reported that they would switch to software for booking and buying Rostec - Leonardo tickets. Russian software should protect the airline and passengers from possible failures when disconnecting foreign booking systems.

By 2024, Aeroflot should have more than 80% of domestic software, and by 2027 - 100%. The digital changes concern both commercial systems (for the sale and booking of tickets) and production.

The contact center and offices of Aeroflot's own sales will work as usual until 14:00 Moscow time on October 29, 2022. Then, until the end of the transition to this software, they will be able to provide reference information.

The airline's website will also function in information mode during migration. It will still be possible to see the flight schedule and online scoreboard, as well as find information important for the flight.

According to representatives of the airline, the Aeroflot mobile application was blocked on October 29. The Android version can be installed in the updated version. The owners of gadgets on iOS were so unlucky - the application will not be available for them (it has already been removed from the App Store for October 2022).

The company advises users of mobile devices on the iOS platform to install a site shortcut on the desktop of an [2] phone or tablet[3].
