2022: Launch of a comprehensive service "Transition to a technologically independent IT landscape "

On October 31, 2022, the IT company IT One announced the launch of a service on the market to form a unified program for adapting the IT landscape at all levels (infrastructure, system and application), taking into account the specifics of the current state and business expectations. The service is based on six scenarios of interaction with customer systems. Read more about this service in the article " Switching to a Technologically Independent IT Landscape: A RE-Volute Approach. IT_One"

According to the company, the leaders of most Russian enterprises somehow thought about switching to domestic IT solutions and creating a technologically independent IT landscape that is resistant to external and internal risks. Many integrators offer their own expertise in auditing the IT infrastructure, creating an IT strategy and implementing import substitution projects. But most often, import substitution means only replacing an imported software product with a similar domestic product in functionality.

IT_One, together with Rubytech, has developed an integrated and balanced approach to ensuring the technological independence of the customer IT landscape.

During the audit, specialists analyze the landscape and organizational structure of IT in the company, identify key applications and systems (including in the context of the import substitution program), assess risks and restrictions. After that, a vision of the target architecture of the IT landscape is formed and a strategy for moving to it is developed. The focus is on minimizing the risk of operating existing IT systems and ensuring business sustainability.

At the target planning stage, the company uses a "6R framework" that involves six different scenarios for interaction with customer systems.

Retain is about maintaining the current IT system unchanged. For example, the company provides full support and minimization of technological risks of operating foreign systems with an indefinite purchased license that do not require urgent replacement and installation of updates.

Retire is the decommissioning of a system with the preservation of key data in the event that its further operation becomes absolutely impossible. For example, the developer has blocked access to full-fledged system support, there are no necessary specialists in the market for refinement and maintenance, there are vulnerabilities in the security subsystem.

Rehost is the migration of a system to another runtime and/or infrastructure. For example, transferring an IT system to an import-substituted secure data center infrastructure or to a secure cloud of a Russian provider from a foreign data center or from the customer's own data center.

Replace is the replacement of an existing IT system with a system with similar functionality. The optimal replacement option is selected for the customer, taking into account the specifics of its IT landscape, business needs and import substitution requirements. To this end, a reference model developed by Rubytech is used.

Replatform is a complete modernization of the architectural components and architecture of an existing IT system using modern practices and approaches to, to programming for example, Cloud-native or microservice architecture.

Refactor/Rebuild is a redesign of architecture and program code for "point" upgrades of system components.

As a result of such approaches, a technologically independent landscape is a set of information resources (systems, applications, services, products) protected from external and internal risks. The key elements in it are based on Open Source software and/or a free license, and their deployment environment is infrastructure-independent (for example, a secure cloud). Large and medium-sized organizations of the public sector and various business areas are extremely interested in such decisions: those who are influenced by sanctions risks, who consider the digital transformation strategy as the next development step, who are afraid to use imported software from vendors who have left the Russian market.

In addition, IT_One provides an additional service for maintaining the created IT landscape "by subscription." It includes joint work on updating the company's IT strategy taking into account emerging internal needs and external factors, creating business cases, helping to plan and launch modernization projects, subscribing to updates to the Rubytech Import Substitution Reference Model.
