2022: Completion of the transfer of the software development department to Bitrix24

On November 3, 2022, Aerodisk announced that it had completed the transfer of the software development department from the JIRA project management system to the Bitriks24 business management system.

The project started in the summer of 2022 as part of a larger initiative of the company to introduce accounting systems and automation of business processes of the Russian vendor.

The main incentive for the transition to Bitrix 24 of the development department was the termination of Atlassian in the Russian market.

At the same time, there was no sharp cessation of work, Aerodisk retained access to all JIRA capabilities within the framework of existing licenses. However, at the beginning of summer, a significant information security vulnerability was discovered in the decision. By that time, the possibility of updates in Atlassian products in the Russian Federation had been disabled.

Other decision factors in favor of Bitrix 24 included a high level of application integration into the overall ecosystem of enterprise software, as well as the ability to independently modify the product to suit the specifics of the tasks and the structure of the business user organization.

The project covered the entire staff of the development department - more than 70 employees in the development, testing and technical support departments. The transition procedure was completed in 3-4 days, since most of the functionality of "Bitrix 24" for development tasks fits out of the box. It took about a week to transfer the current projects from JIRA, "said Dmitry Chirkov, Director General of the Aerodisk Research Center.

Of the disadvantages of the Russian solution, he noted the functionality of chat rooms for developers, which are still being replaced by the Rocket Chat product, since it implements more convenient channel creation, inserts of sample code and logging records are available.

It was also necessary to separately establish task management tracking through integration with the local Gitlab repository in such a way that you could track the direct activities of each specific developer. To maintain the usual work patterns previously available in JIRA, Aerodisk specialists needed to implement these functions on their own.

Russian software solutions are becoming the standard for organizing the company's work. We are glad that one of the most important areas of our activity - the creation of software for the operation of DSS - now relies on the tool of a domestic vendor: we get more security, technological independence and flexibility in organizing the software development process itself, "concludes Vyacheslav Volodkovich, General Director of Aerodisk.
