2022: Moving to the DataFort Cloud
Novosibirsk Energosbyt has implemented a project to transfer its IT systems to the DataFort cloud data center. This became known on July 8, 2022.
Prior to migrating to the "clouds," Novosibirsk Energosbyt used its own computing power located in the company's offices. Computing resources were used to host business applications, billing systems and other IT tasks of the company.
In 2018, the company faced the task of creating digital energy sales: by 2021, the company was supposed to transfer the service of all customers to the online format. Such a significant change in business processes could not but affect IT: in order to achieve the goal, Novosibirsk Energosbyt needed not only to optimize the systems already used, but also to introduce new ones.
As the strategy was implemented, the available computing resources were gradually lacking. Due to the fact that the number of digital services has increased and the format of providing services has changed by 24/7, there is a need to modernize computing power, life support systems for server rooms, as well as to reorganize the IT service.
Having analyzed the options for modernizing the IT infrastructure, Novosibirsk Energosbyt decided to abandon the increase in capital expenditures on equipment and the construction of its own data centers - this is how the company's path to the cloud began.
The company had its first experience of using infrastructure as a service (IaaS) back in 2020. At the initial stage, computing power was used as an addition to existing data centers.
In 2021, the company's IT department developed a targeted architecture to improve the reliability of the IT infrastructure and achieve an availability rate of 99.982%, as well as a plan for its implementation. The modernization project was successfully protected on the Board of Directors of the company and began to be implemented in mid-2021.
The first step was to search for suitable IT sites on the territory of the Novosibirsk region, corresponding to the Tier III level. Within the framework of the competition, two data centers were chosen, geographically located at an optimal distance to ensure catastrophic stability. One of them was the data center from DataFort. As in the case of its own data centers, one of the provider sites played the role of a reserve.
The combined team Beeline Business"" and DataFort was directly involved in the migration of the services of Novosibirsk Energosbyt. The specialists took over the development of the plan and all the work on the transfer. data The team business processes moved the company's services from four previously used sites without stopping:
- two own data centers "Novosibirsk Energosbyt";
- Data centers in Novosibirsk and Moscow, used earlier.
The migration process took a little less than six months - from December 2021 to May 2022, and the active phase was completed back in March. For users of the company's services, the migration went completely unnoticed, without stopping the work of IT systems.
To place IT systems in the DataFort data center, Novosibirsk Energosbyt uses physical servers and virtual resources in a 152-FZ-qualified circuit. To ensure a high level of data security, a backup service was connected.[1]
