In November 2022, Rostelecomatics announced the creation of urban intelligent transport systems in Krasnodar and Sochi as part of the Safe Quality Roads national project. They will increase road capacity by managing traffic in real time, optimizing traffic and improving road safety.

To form the effective operation of the transport and logistics infrastructure of the new generation region, intelligent transport systems are being introduced in the Krasnodar-Sochi agglomeration, which will cover over 6.5 thousand km of public roads. The new IT is created by Rostelecomatics. The system includes 13 different modules for modeling and forecasting traffic flows, managing traffic lights, monitoring traffic rules, etc.

It is assumed that the introduction of intelligent transport systems in the city's infrastructure will increase the efficiency of managing the road complex, increase the capacity of the city's road network from 15 to 20%. Intelligent video surveillance will help quickly identify incidents on the roads and, as a result, respond to them faster and more efficiently, and the information system will inform drivers in time of the necessary information about what is happening on the roads.

The created IT will ensure the automation of the traffic management process and increase the level of road safety. A complex of modern digital developments will solve such problems as the growing volume of accidents due to speed violations, congestion and uneven transport load.

According to Dmitry Tselikov, General Director of Rostelecomatics, more than 160 smart devices were installed on the main highways of Krasnodar and Sochi by November 2022: traffic lights, video surveillance cameras, information boards, transport detectors, weather stations. The equipment is connected to Russian software to using, artificial intelligence which combined all these elements into a single platform for managing transport systems, he added.[1]
