The Russian company Droneshub has developed an independent navigation system that works without GPS, GLONASS and mobile communications. This became known on November 14, 2022.

According to the founder and CEO of Droneshub Maxim Tomskikh, the system allows transport to "navigate" using artificial intelligence and video cameras installed on board. A car or unmanned rover passes along a certain route, artificial intelligence recognizes and classifies surrounding objects - buildings and their elements, fences, roadbed, etc.

After training and processing video from cameras, recognition and classification of objects, building a map of the area, the vehicle is ready for further work, - said Tomskikh.

He stressed that the visual navigation system can also recognize people or license plates on cars, determine foreign objects, and allow you to follow a specific car or person.

As told Izvestia in, ANO "NTI Platform" which advises and provides marketing and communication support to the project, by mid-November 2022 the system is tested on unmanned industrial transporters moving around the territory of enterprises, but in the future it is possible to use it on a variety of vehicles. Including on cars, when the Russian legislative and regulatory framework will allow it, the ANO emphasized.

The technology is useful not only for transportation within closed areas, such as warehouses and enterprises, but also for ordinary motorists when blocking the signal of satellite systems. Moreover, the visual data obtained from one car in the future can be loaded into tens and hundreds of thousands of other vehicles.^[1]
