The patient came, the doctor measured the spectrum of a certain area of the skin, the program analyzed everything and issued a printout indicating the concentrations of skin components and a preliminary diagnosis. This can be used both for the diagnosis of neoplasms and in cosmetology, you can determine the general characteristics of the skin condition - skin type, moisture saturation - and diagnose for various pathological conditions - acne, postacne, cuperosis, hyperpigmentation, dehydration, and so on. The accuracy of the analysis will be from 75 to 99%, - said the author of the project Irina Matveeva, graduate student of the Institute of Informatics and Cybernetics of Samara University named after Korolev.

In Russia, created the technology of automatic analysis of the skin condition

The analysis will be carried out using a portable installation, the technology will be based on the method of Raman spectroscopy, which is highly accurate in the studies of the epidermis and upper layers of the dermis. With this method, a laser beam is sent to the patient's skin and the presence of certain substances in the skin is recorded by changes in the spectrum of scattered radiation, the press service of the university noted.

The installation can be placed on a table in the office of a dermatologist. It will need to be connected to a computer or laptop with appropriate software, which is also being developed by scientists in Samara. In the future, the technology of biochemical analysis of skin composition is planned to be patented, the press service of the university noted.
