2022: Start of US artificial meat plant construction

On December 7, 2022, the Israeli company Believer Meats, formerly known as Future Meat, announced the start of construction of the world's largest cultivated meat plant.

Along with startups such as Impossible Foods and Aleph Farms, Believer Meats expects to significantly reduce the cost of artificial meat. To this end, various initiatives are being implemented. These, in particular, include the opening of the first factory in Israel and significant investments that allowed to reduce the cost of chicken grown in the laboratory to $1.7 per breast.

The world's largest artificial meat factory opens in the United States

The new company Believer Meats will be located in Wilson (North Carolina, USA). The foundation has already been laid for the plant, the area of which after commissioning will be 18,500 square meters. This would make the factory the industry's largest hub for cultured meat. It is expected that the plant will be able to ship at least 10 thousand tons of products annually. The company will also host research laboratories and an innovation center. Initial investment in the project will amount to $123.35 million.

{{quote 'Our brand is constantly proving a commitment to scaling production capacity, and with a new production center in the US, we will be one step closer to the widespread commercialization of artificial meat technology. Believer sets standards around the world so that future generations can enjoy meat, the company says. }} Believer Meats will apply the so-called "environment recovery method." Its essence lies in the fact that cells taken from animals are treated in stainless steel fermenters, supplying them with nutrients. Thanks to this, tissue is propagated and formed, which, in turn, turn into edible pieces of meat.[1]
