Following the mission, Trend Micro company, the leader in security of cloud environments, announced in September, 2010 open access of the beta of the new Trend Micro SecureCloud platform allowing to solve corporate problems of expansion of multilevel data protection in private or public storages. Due to use of the patented unique technology of key management and enciphering according to industry standards SecureCloud guarantees to the enterprises control over data which are stored in public, private and hybrid cloud environments.
Private and public clouds play a crucial role in expense reduction and increase in business maneuverability. However they create new difficulties in security and functional problems which cannot be overcome using standard means of protecting. The IDC company conducted survey of 263 heads of the IT companies, CIOs and their colleagues on business for understanding of how these companies use IT services on protection of the network environments. Among the most serious problems or questions connected with cloud computing environments on the first place security was called. The SecureCloud platform is created for their solution: it facilitates data protection and reduces risks of violation of confidentiality and compliance to regulatory requirements at deployment of information in cloud computing environments.
The patented SecureCloud platform integrates in itself unique key management on the basis of security policies, the encryption system corresponding industry standards and authentication of the virtual server for reliable and simple use of data in private and public cloud environments. This compact solution allows to protect confidential information without creation of excessively difficult file infrastructure. It guarantees rendering services in the private cloud environments unrolled in the corporate data processing centers, public environments outside the enterprise managed by independent service providers and also hybrid environments with use of both private, and public data warehouses. As users can select and control own solution on data protection, freedom and an opportunity to pass to any service provider and to select deployment models according to requirements is provided.
SecureCloud grants to users exclusive right of control over encryption keys while other solutions guarantee only shared or automatic control of them. This method means "separation of duties", allocating users of cloud environments with opportunities for increase in efficiency and advantages of the environment when preserving control over information which is stored in it. SecureCloud also provides compliance to standards of security (for example, HITECH, PCI DSS and GLBA) as protects confidential and personal information thanks to powerful technologies of enciphering. At last, owners of data have an exclusive opportunity to dictate time and the place of use of encryption keys by means of what they can retain full control over information and it is safe to work in any cloud computing environment.
Now the solution Trend Micro™ Deep Security prevents data theft, failures in system operation and also violations of compliance to standards and politicians, providing universal server protection in the modern virtualized data processing centers. The latest version of Deep Security including the agentless program for protection against the malware and the analytical solution for the virtualized environments uses VMware vShield Endpoint technology and also increases degree of protection of the server against violation of integrity of data and provides compliance to legal requirements.
Trend Micro SecureCloud fills up this already wide line of solutions for protection of cloud environments. This solution is especially useful for protection and data management which are stored and used in private and public cloud environments. The new solution can be applied in addition or in combination with Trend Micro Deep Security. The solution Deep Security represents the protected container for placement of applications and data management while SecureCloud ciphers and controls the data which are out of this container, access to which only owners of encryption keys have.
SecureCloud delivered in the form of SaaS is intended for data protection in private cloud environments and public SaaS environments. The solution Trend Micro SecureCloud is already available in the beta to the address http://www.securecloud.com. The beta of SecureCloud supports the Amazon EC2, Eucalyptus and VMware platforms. Receipt of a product in the general network of sales is expected in the 4th quarter 2010.
Trend Micro SecureCloud is included into the integrated solution package for protection of content of Trend Micro™ Enterprise Security which is supported by infrastructure of Trend Micro™ Smart Protection Network™. Trend Micro Enterprise Security provides the maximum protection against threats, reducing cost intensity and complexity of system management of security to a minimum.
The Trend Micro SecureCloud 1.1 technology provides convenient management of data encryption and encryption keys based on the politician. Management of enciphering is supported in private and public "cloud" environments. Now customers can control the encryption keys for the Amazon EC2, Eucalyptus and VMware vCloud platforms through the SecureCloud service placed at capacities of Trend Micro company or via the server of the SecureCloud keys started in their own data processing centers. The service of key management Trend Micro SecureCloud extends in the form of a monthly or year subscription and also in the form of traditional software licenses.
Protection of cloud environments based on Deep Security 8 and Trend Micro SecureCloud 2
The Trend Micro company became the first supplier who released specialized security systems for public and private cloud environments and also the first proposed the solutions intended for protection of the infrastructure and virtualized platforms of VMware. If Trend Micro Deep Security is, first of all, a server product and provides safe containers for the applications and servers which are in a cloud, then SecureCloud supplements Deep Security and provides enciphering and data protection, used by these applications and servers. SecureCloud is a platform for data protection and key management of enciphering on a basis the politician who considerably simplifies the corresponding processes in the physical, virtualized and cloud environments. In other words, this solution accelerates transition to cloud computing and also reduces costs even more and increases the level of observance of the existing standards. An exit of the announced updating of Deep Security will allow customers and trading partners to take advantage of its integration with functions of enciphering and key management at a basis the politician of SecureCloud.
Together Deep Security and SecureCloud are capable to become base for building of the most flexible infrastructure which is sensitively reacting to constantly changing context of the dynamic environment of DPC. For example, SecureCloud, interacting with Deep Security and using the data on a current status of security received from there, will be able to check at any moment, protection of this or that server requesting the right to access to the ciphered data is how relevant and only after that to release the corresponding keys. If during the inspections which are carried out by Deep Security on integrity attempts of start of virtual machines with outdated or inadequate protection or with traces of the attacks of malefactors suddenly are detected, SecureCloud without delay will react and will block for them data access, having refused to them issue of a key and having informed the administrator on need of urgent correction of a situation.
New features
In addition, in SecureCloud 2 there is a number of significant improvements, including the new agent of enciphering with the certificate of FIPS 140-2. In the USA all means of enciphering used by public institutions and the companies with the maximum levels of security should be certified according to federal standards of information processing (FIPS).
