Softline holds IT exercises for TMK based on Yandex Cloud

2022: Conducting IT exercises based on the Yandex Cloud platform

On December 20, 2022, Softline Group announced that it had organized and conducted IT exercises for specialists of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK). During the competition, in conditions as close as possible to the real ones, IT specialists were able to improve their professional skills, master new technologies and products. The participants performed the work on the infrastructure deployed in Yandex Cloud.

Pipe Metallurgical Company is a supplier of steel pipes, pipe solutions and related services for various sectors of the economy. The company has broad competencies in the engineering segment, supplies engineering solutions for energy and metallurgical industries, and also develops a product line for hydrogen power. TMK unites large production sites in different regions of Russia.

Within the framework of the general corporate event "Horizons," the company regularly conducts large-scale cross-sectoral exercises. In 2022, TMK decided to organize exercises for IT specialists of its subsidiaries, united under the TMK++ brand. With this task, TMK turned to its IT partner - Softline Group of Companies, which previously successfully implemented cyber training for managers and specialists in the field of information security of the client.

"The participants were divided into three teams, each of which featured specialists from all IT areas. The assignments were built in such a way that each participant could show both his personal creativity and team skills. To perform the tasks, the Yandex Cloud cloud platform was chosen, with which specialists had not previously worked. In Yandex Cloud, an isolated infrastructure was previously created for each team, in which virtual machines, database clusters, networks and other resources were deployed. The commands faced the following tasks: to deploy failover web applications using the MySQL cluster; Configure disaster recovery of virtual machines, and provide remote access to company services for employees. During the exercise, IT specialists got acquainted with the new platform and, under the guidance of our experienced architects, performed the tasks in an interface they did not know, thereby applying their knowledge and skills and acquiring new ones. The participants successfully coped with the tasks and demonstrated high competencies, "explains Olga Maslovskaya, sales manager at Softline Group of Companies.
