E4 group manages program assets and reduces licensing costs

E4 company started use of a management system for program assets according to the results of completion of implementing solution by LANIT company. It allows the customer to optimize use of the software and it is essential to reduce costs on purchase of licenses.

Previously

The management of E4 made the decision on need of optimization of use of the software at the central office of the company. Specialists of LANIT company together with Microsoft created a management system for program assets (SAM - Software Asset Management) based on Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (SCCM). Also the client agents allowing to make inventory of software and to collect information on its use on the client systems in network of the company were unrolled.

The first stage

During the project specialists of LANIT make the centralized collecting of data on program assets of customer company. On the basis of collected information reports on software set in E4, the number of licenses and seldom used software are created.

The second stage

During the next stage summary reports for asset management of software in E4 company are created. Rules according to which monitoring of use of software on the client systems is conducted are created.

Expectations

The implemented solution will allow E4 company to cut down significantly expenses on the software since a system optimizes a ratio of the used software and the number of necessary licenses. Besides, the SCCM technology provides a possibility of remote installation of operating systems and the software, their timely updating. A system allows to create the schedule for automatic installation of this or that software on computers of users. The listed opportunities reduce time and finance costs, do work of IT specialists of E4 of more productive.
