2023: Airport equipment in Kurgan with radar AORL-1AS
On January 11, 2023, the Roselectronics holding of the Rostec State Corporation announced the equipment of the airport in Kurganeradiolocator with a AORL-1AS equipped with an up-to-date element base. It allows you to significantly expand the area of controlled airspace and increase the safety of aircraft in the region.
Compared to more than 25 years of operation at the Kurgan airfield, the dispatching radar DRL-7SM, the AORL-1AS has more than 2 times increased the detection range of aircraft through the primary channel and 3 times - through the secondary. The primary channel determines the location of the aircraft, the secondary channel transmits additional information about the aircraft: tail number, flight altitude, fuel residue. The combined antenna system makes the locator more reliable in operation.
Ensuring flight safety and equipping airports with up-to-date equipment is one of the priority tasks of civil aviation. Since 2018, Russia has been operating a program for the modernization of airfield infrastructure facilities. Within its framework, the Roselectronics holding has equipped more than 40 airports with radar. This equipment installed in Kurgan is several times more efficient than the previous generation locators. It allows you to control aircraft at a distance of up to 160 km through the primary communication channel and up to 400 km through the secondary, said Rostec executive director Oleg Yevtushenko.

Installation and commissioning work was carried out by specialists from the Chelyabinsk Radio Plant Polet (part of Roselectronics), a Russian enterprise for the production of airfield navigation equipment.
For almost 30 years, the dispatching radar DRL-7SM performed the tasks of detecting and measuring the coordinates of aircraft in the area of the Kurgan airfield. The need to equip the airfield base with up-to-date radar equipment is ripe in connection with the modernization of the airport infrastructure. The modern radar AORL-1AS allows you to increase the area of controlled airspace and ensure control over it by creating a single automated radar system, noted the general director of the PRZ " Flight" Alexander Nesterov.
