2024: VGD-II-K33HC/VGD-II-K33NS-UF/VGD-II-200-600M33HP-50/VGD-II-400-1200M33HP-100

On July 25, 2024, POWERCOM announced the expansion of the Vanguard-II-33 's three-phase industrial UPS line. The line is represented by models of the VGD-II-K33NS, VGD-II-K33NS-UF, VGD-II-200-600M33HP-50, VGD-II-400-1200M33HP-100 series.

VGD-II-K33HC/VGD-II-K33NS-UF

As reported, these UPSs belong to the industrial class and are modern uninterruptible power systems with optimal efficiency, intelligent noise control and modular execution of the main components, which optimizes equipment maintenance. Support for parallel operation of several UPSs allows you to increase the power of the entire protection system as a whole.

The main differences between the model range and the old one:

  • UPS functionality in terms of control and monitoring has been expanded;
  • Electrical characteristics of UPS have been optimized, including in terms of overload capacities and input voltage ranges;
  • Special attention is paid to the compatibility of UPS with lithium batteries;
  • Possibility of 3 in 1 operation (models up to 40 kVA);
  • For modular models, special attention is paid to redundancy of all UPS systems, including control and monitoring modules;
  • Modular UPSs are expanded to 1.2 mW in a single enclosure, and the maximum system power can reach 9.6 mW.

These models are the best solution for servicing large data centers, computing complexes, as well as for ensuring the continuity of business processes in industrial enterprises, in medical, financial, trade and educational organizations.

UPS series VGD-II-K33NS have a power range from 10 kVA to 40 kVA and are produced in three modifications - standard SS, modifications with HCS index, and with BST index, where the SS index indicates the possibility of installing a battery kit in the UPS housing and replacing it. The batteries are installed in a special compartment, ensuring their easy installation/dismantling. In the HCS-option, there is no compartment for internal batteries. UPS only works with external battery rooms. HCT option - has an output transformer to provide galvanic insulation. Transformer is installed in UPS housing.

The non-transformer UPS of the VGD-II-K33NS-UF series have a capacity of 60 kVA - 200 kVA. Control is carried out on the basis of digital, processor which ensures stability power supply and reliability of operation. Maybe connection of external batteries and parallel connection of up to 8 devices, including with a common battery array. The UPS architecture allows you to scale solutions for different loads, as well as perform N + X connections if necessary. The VGD-II-K33NS-UF series models are compact and easy to maintain and repair.

The VGD-II-200-600M33HP-50 and VGD-II-400-1200M33HP-100 series UPSs are modular UPSs in the three-phase POWERCOM series and are modern three-phase uninterruptible power systems with dual power conversion.

The models of both series differ in the flexibility of configurations of ready-made solutions with a capacity of up to 600 kVA and up to 1200 kVA, respectively, and are based on one type of power modules - VGD-II-50PM with a capacity of 50 kVA and VGD-II-100PM with a capacity of 100 kVA, respectively.

The modular design of UPS data minimizes repair and recovery time, and redundancy at the module, rack and parallel systems level optimizes the level of fault tolerance. Ready-made solutions have a single power factor and efficiency up to 96%, they also implement the function of monitoring and auditing the input network. All this helps reduce TCO by reducing heat losses and increasing power density per unit footprint.

Instead of discrete components, the UPS rectifier and inverter use IGBT transistors and their assembly (six-pack), which provides optimal compactness and reliability of the device in combination with optimal efficiency. Combining all components into one design eliminates component performance imbalances, optimizes the number of failure points, and improves reliability. Several fans provide air flow through the common duct. If one of the fans fails, the power module will continue to operate without a failure in normal mode.

All three-phase POWERCOM UPSs have a self-test function that allows the UPS to be tested without real load. The "smooth start" function provides a stepped overload on the network or DGP, which allows you to optimize the maximum generator power and not overpay for excess power. The UPS is controlled using a modern large touch-sensitive liquid crystal display, it is possible to control and monitor the local network, RS-232/485 interfaces, dry contacts, as well as install an internal or external SNMP card and organize full monitoring.

2023: VGD-II-33K 10-40kVa with index B

POWERCOM on July 5, 2023 announced a 10-40kVa VGD-II-33K series update.

This index B modification has an expanded internal battery bay, which allows for a quadruple of the battery life compared to the standard modification.

Three-phase POWERCOM VGD-II-33K TOWER UPSs are used to protect fixed loads and have successful cases of projects implemented in the Russian Federation to ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical infrastructure, medical equipment, and production equipment.

The 10-40 kVa VGD-II-33K with index B differs from the standard position by an enlarged compartment for internal batteries, allowing for longer battery life. The batteries of the model with the B index are located in battery trays and have a "hot-swap battery" function.

Thus, as of July 2023, the three-phase 10-40 kVa VGD-II-33K system is presented in Russia in three modifications to solve various customer tasks:

  • standard;
  • with index L for operation with external battery rooms only;
  • a novelty with index B with an enlarged battery compartment for additional autonomy in the same case.

2020: Powercom VGD II-M

On June 1, 2020, it became known that POWERCOM, as part of the development of the line of three-phase uninterruptible power supplies, launched the VGD II-M model on the market. The model is a modern modular uninterruptible power system with dual power conversion and completes the filling of the three-phase Vanguard II 33 series (VGD II), which was previously introduced by the VGD II-K monoblocks and the VGD II-RM rack solution.

Vanguard VGD II-M UPSs are based on two types of power modules - R (10/15/25 kVA) and M (25/30/40/50 kVA), from which any systems up to 1.5 MVA can be assembled. The number of possible configurations is in the tens. The modules can be installed both in a specialized chassis and in a standard 19-inch rack. This is important, for example, for the data center. The area occupied by the device with a capacity of 300 kVA is 0.66 square meters. m, and with a capacity of 600 kVA - only 2 square meters. m, which saves such valuable space in the data center.

Powercom VGD II-M

The modular design of the VGD II-M system minimizes repair and recovery time, and redundancy at the module, rack and parallel level increases fault tolerance. Ready-made solutions have a single power factor and efficiency up to 96%, and they also implement the function of auditing the input network - the UPS monitors the parameters at the input, and if the input voltage parameters are normal for a certain time, then the UPS can switch to a high efficiency mode, increasing the efficiency up to 98.5%. These features reduce TCO by reducing heat losses and increasing power density per unit footprint.

Instead of discrete components, the VGD II-M rectifier and inverter uses modular IGBT transistors and their assemblies (six-pack), which provide extremely high compactness and reliability of the device in combination with high efficiency. Combining all components into one modular design eliminates the imbalance of their technical characteristics, reduces the number of points of failure and increases reliability. The backup power modules have a unique design that allows the UPS to operate in a dusty environment. In UPS design, printed circuit boards and heat sinks are located in different compartments: the cooling air flow passes through the lower compartment with heat sinks, leaving no dust on the printed circuit board, which is located on top. Several fans provide air flow through the common duct. If one of the fans fails, the power module will continue to operate without a failure in normal mode.

All three-phase POWERCOM VGD II-M UPSs have a self-test function that allows the UPS to be tested without real load. The connection of battery cabinets of various configurations in terms of capacity and number of batteries is supported, which allows you to optimize autonomy time and financial investments as much as possible. The "smooth start" function in the UPS provides a systematic loading of the DGP, which allows you to optimize the maximum generator power and not overpay for excess power. The UPS is controlled using a modern large touch-sensitive liquid crystal display, it is possible to control and monitor over a wireless or local network, over RS-2332/485 interfaces, dry contacts, as well as install an internal SNMP card and organize full monitoring using MODBUS protocols.

Modular solutions are suitable for commercial data centers, centralized power supply to the enterprise LAN, as well as for protecting other computing and telecommunication equipment that requires high quality three-phase power supply. They will do an excellent job of protecting banking computer systems, medical and pharmacological equipment, as well as providing electricity in shopping centers.

Appointment

UPS[1] Vanguard 3:1 series are designed to protect computing and telecommunication equipment requiring increased power quality. These can be servers, workstations, LAN equipment and other critical computer equipment. Vanguard 3:1 series UPS models have a three-phase input and a single-phase output and provide centralized protection for computing or telecommunications systems with a capacity of up to 20 kVA. The UPS system with three-phase input and single-phase output allows for more uniform loading of the industrial network using all three phases. The intelligent microprocessor UPS control system provides not only high quality output voltage, but also provides advanced communication capabilities. All Vanguard 3:1 series UPSs have RS-232 and USB ports, in addition, an EPO (emergency shutdown) connector and an SNMP card slot. To increase battery support time, external battery packs can be connected.

Technology

Online - double conversion technology. When using online technology in UPS, or double conversion, the power of the power supply network, before entering the load, is converted twice: first, the power supply voltage is rectified, the DC voltage is corrected to the required level, and then converted to alternating with parameters close to ideal. This principle of operation allows the UPS to protect the connected equipment from all existing problems in the power grid: high-voltage emissions, voltage surges, electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference, short-term voltage increase or decrease, distortion of its shape, complete power outage, etc. Online models are the only ones of all types of UPS that do not have battery switching time.

High efficiency mode - energy saving technology implemented in online UPS.

In addition to the usual dual UPS conversion mode, the Vanguard 3:1 series provides an energy-saving high-efficiency mode. When this mode is activated, depending on the power supply quality, the UPS automatically switches between the double conversion mode and the bypass mode. If the mains voltage quality is unsatisfactory, the UPS is permanently in dual conversion mode. With good mains voltage quality, the UPS automatically switches to bypass mode, thus reducing conversion losses. At the same time, the UPS records any defects in the mains voltage and instantly returns to the dual conversion mode. The use of the high efficiency mode reduces conversion energy losses and increases battery life.

2014: Powercom Vanguard Chain

The presented UPS, which include power and battery modules, provide scaling in terms of power and redundancy time. The 3U and 6 kVA and 10 kVA power modules are based on technologies used in existing Vanguard RM On-Line UPS systems.

It is possible to operate up to four such modules in parallel, which allows you to increase the total useful power of the power system in one rack to 40 kVA. When installing 12 battery modules (this is the maximum possible number of them), the backup time reaches one and a half hours. The Vanguard Chain automatically diagnoses the state of battery modules; UPS operation information is displayed on the LCD monitor screen. The RS-232 port is used to interact with the monitoring and control software. UPS availability is improved by hot-swapping both types of modules.

Vanguard Chain devices are designed to be located in the racks of data centers with a distributed uninterruptible power supply system, as well as for installation in server rooms, for the protection of telecommunication equipment, instrumentation systems, security and fire alarm systems, medical equipment.

The market promotion of Vanguard Chain, according to Powercom, should be facilitated by "a unique price offer, significantly superior in value and functionality to products from other manufacturers."

The Vanguard family of UPSs are "online" - absolute protection - unlike other types of UPSs, in the event of a power failure, they provide instant switching to battery power, which is extremely important for ensuring the continuity of the most important, expensive systems that require long battery life. In a 6 kVA configuration, Vanguard UPSs are designed for 6 minutes of battery life at full load, and 15 minutes at half load. For 10 kVA models, these characteristics are 5 and 10 minutes, respectively. To extend battery life, Vanguard UPSs support the connection of external battery packs of increased capacity, for which all models are equipped with appropriate connectors.

The key difference that defines the scope of the VGS and VRT models is the form factor.

Vanguard VRT-6000 and VRT-10K is a rack-embedded solution that integrates into data centers to protect server systems and telecommunications equipment with increased power continuity requirements. The key features of this model are increased efficiency, a large number of output connectors, hot replacement of batteries and an increased power factor (PF = 0.9).

Vanguard VGS-6000 and VGS-10K, unlike VRT, is a series of dual-frequency conversion floor-mounted devices that provide absolute power protection that can be used to protect critical infrastructure elements - life support systems, access control, emergency lighting, etc. And thanks to the large number of euro sockets, many consumers can be connected to each Vanguard VGA UPS directly, without using splitters.

The 8 kVA POWERCOM VGD-8K31 UPS model has a three-phase input and a single-phase output, which allows centralized protection of equipment and evenly loads the industrial network using all three phases. In addition, the VGD-8K31 belongs to the online UPS type and works using double conversion technology. In such UPS, the power of the power supply network, before entering the load, is converted twice: first, the power supply voltage is rectified, the DC voltage is corrected to the required level, and then converted to alternating with parameters close to ideal. This principle of operation allows you to protect the connected equipment from all existing problems in the electrical network: high-voltage emissions, voltage surges, electromagnetic and radio-frequency interference, short-term voltage increase or decrease, distortion of its shape, complete disconnection of the Vanguard UPS are equipped with an intelligent microprocessor control system that not only provides high quality output voltage, but also provides expanded communication capabilities. These UPSs have RS-232 and USB ports, as well as an EPO (emergency shutdown) connector and an SNMP card slot.
