2023: Satellite Creation

SPUTPS, Tyumen State University and NIIAF Moscow State University have assembled a satellite for eco-monitoring and solving the problems of the smart city concept. Sitronics announced this on January 31, 2023.

The spacecraft is assembled on the basis of the OrbiCraft-Pro platform of SPUTPS (part of the Sitronics Group). The satellite will be launched into orbit in mid-2023.

The satellite for environmental monitoring of the Tyumen region is ready for launch into orbit. The spacecraft was assembled as part of a project for remote diagnostics of the troposphere and reservoirs by satellite infrared thermometry. The payload was developed at the NIIAF of Moscow State University. After entering orbit, it will take pictures of clouds of different tiers and dozens of lakes in the visible and infrared at the same time. Tyumen schoolchildren will be able to remotely determine their temperature and contribute to improving the reliability of weather forecasts. Data on the dynamics of the surface temperature of lakes in the spring-autumn period will make it possible to judge the thermal regime of lakes as one of the determining factors of the existence of their biota.

The satellite will be launched into orbit thanks to the large-scale federal educational project Space-Pi, which is aimed at attracting schoolchildren and students to study space technologies and apply them in various fields.

For us, this project, one might say, is a personal mission. Within the framework of it, we work with dozens of universities and schools throughout the country, and we see that the space industry in Russia has a great and bright future. Our task is to stir up this interest and love for space and technology by what we can do ourselves, "commented Vladislav Ivanenko, General Director of SPUTPS.

As part of the project, a series of educational lectures was organized for schoolchildren by Tyumen State University, speakers were researchers at the Research Institute of Nuclear Physics of Moscow State University, teachers of the Department of Space Physics of Moscow State University, Sputnik engineers and scientists from Tyumen State University.

These first space results, obtained by schoolchildren, scientists and engineers, continue not only the practice of working with gifted children, which in itself is extremely important, but also the projects of great science of Tyumen State University. As part of the Priority 2030 program, we have a strategic commitment from research teams to create technologies in the fields of climate, land use and biodiversity. And, of course, satellite data will become a good basis for observation, analysis and forecasting, - said the rector of Tyumen State University Ivan Romanchuk.

The satellite is also planned to be used as part of the implementation of the smart city concept. Space data allows you to assess the congestion of parking lots, the situation on the roads, see the scale of certain natural phenomena. It is planned that the Tyumen State University spacecraft will solve the problems of data delivery in hard-to-reach places.
