2023: Product Announcement

On March 2, 2023, Renovate Robotics introduced a robot for roofing, including bitumen. In addition, the technology can be used to mount solar panels.

The robot from Renovate Robotics is powered by a winch. The device snaps to the roof and moves along its surface along the X and Y axes, placing the tiles as it moves. Renovate Robotics plans several ways to monetize the technology, while improving the system.

In addition to the roof, the robot can mount solar panels

At the beginning of March 2023, the system requires an operator to monitor the progress of work and replace the tiles. There will always be several workers in place to set up, monitor and load material. Renovate Robotics' plans do not include remote monitoring, co-founder Dylan Crowe said. However, the company will collect and store collected data that will subsequently be integrated into other feature sets, such as installation confirmation for insurance companies. Crowe added that Renovate Robotics will work directly with roofing contractors and initially help them perform the work as a subcontractor due to the fact that this is a common relationship in the construction industry. Renovate Robotics will then move on to the RaaS model when Renovate Robotics will lease the robots to trained contractors who can operate the system themselves on site.

The startup's co-founder is mechanical engineer Andy Stulk, who brought 12 years of robotics experience to Renovate Robotics. In early March 2023, Renovate Robotics announced $2.5 million in preliminary funding led by Alley Robotics Ventures and involving SOSV's HAX, Newlab, Uphonest Capital and Climate Capital.[1]
