2023: Building a Company

On March 28, 2023, the American military-industrial corporation Lockheed Martin announced the creation of a subsidiary of Crescent Space Services, which will develop the lunar infrastructure. The first project of the enterprise will be the deployment of a satellite communication system between the Earth and the moon.

The initiative was named Parsec. It provides for the use of small spacecraft to provide continuous communication between ground stations, astronauts and objects in lunar orbit, as well as on the surface of our planet's natural satellite. In addition, Parsec will provide critical location and navigation services for lunar missions. In other words, the new system will become a lunar analogue of GPS. Through Parsec, for example, colonizers will be able to lay optimal routes when moving on rovers on the lunar surface. It is assumed that Parsec will provide communication, including on the far side of the moon.

The first Parsec satellites are scheduled to be launched into lunar orbit in 2025. Lockheed Martin Corporation will be responsible for the supply of spacecraft, while Crescent Space Services will take control of the new communication system. In the future, the company intends to provide additional services for the further development of scientific and commercial projects on the moon and in deep space.

The new division will be headed by Joe Landon, who previously served as vice president of advanced programming at Lockheed Martin Space. In this position, he led strategy, research and development in the company's commercial projects. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Landon was an early entrepreneur and investor in the commercial space sector.[1]
