2023: Product Announcement

In mid-April 2023, Samsung Electronics announced Samsung Health Stack 1.0, a universal open source project designed to improve the effectiveness of digital health research.

The presented platform simplifies the creation of applications, internal servers and data analysis tools for wearable devices based on Android and Wear OS operating systems. Samsung notes that advances in the industry of smartphones and other mobile gadgets can revolutionize the field of health care and the development of biomarkers based on collected indicators. However, the use of these devices in research often requires new mobile medical applications and services. In such a situation, researchers are forced to spend a lot of time and money on unfamiliar directions for them. And this slows down the development and implementation of innovations.

Samsung Health Stack 1.0

The Samsung Health Stack platform is designed to solve existing problems. Within the framework of the project, a developer kit (SDK) of applications, a web portal and a backend component are available. Together, these components simplify the construction of the system, allowing scientists to focus on their tasks. When conducting research using wearable devices for diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, Samsung Health Stack makes it easier to collect data - just enter only the necessary information into the web portal.

Included in Samsung Health Stack are features of study introduction, participant registration, wearable device data collection and baseline survey. Security and stability tools are provided to improve reliability in real-world health research. The platform received a tool to track the progress of clinical research participants in fulfilling specific tasks. Applications developed using the SDK can maintain constant communication between specialists and participants, which leads to improved results.^[1][2]
