2023: Moving Information Systems to the Cloud ITglobal.com
JSA Group transferred the critical information systems of Ural Steel to the cloud infrastructure ITGLOBAL.COM. Migration was carried out as part of the formation of its own landscape of the newly formed metallurgical holding Ural Steel and Zagorsk Pipe Plant.
Due to the lack of the necessary equipment in the server rooms of Ural Steel and the long terms of its purchase and delivery, it was decided to place the system for managing the financial and economic activities of Ural Steel in a private cloud, "said Daniil Lukin, director of technology platform development at JSA Group. - Having held a tender, my colleagues from Ural Steel and I settled on the offer of ITGLOBAL.COM, which made it possible to quickly gain access to the IT infrastructure necessary to accommodate Ural Steel systems, while being isolated from other customers ITGLOBAL.COM. |
During the first phase of the project, JSA Group integrated the cloud infrastructure into the mill's IT landscape, enabled migration of systems and data to the private cloud, and seamless migration of users to the migrated systems. In particular, systems were transferred that automate all the main processes of managing the financial and economic activities of the enterprise, including: financial management, treasury, personnel, master data, controlling, as well as procurement, sales, contracts, repairs, analytical reporting. Thanks to this, Ural Steel was able to build its own IT infrastructure, fully operate it and implement solutions on its basis without a long process of purchasing, supplying and configuring expensive equipment.
At the second stage, to optimize equipment costs, irrelevant data with information about the holding, which previously included Ural Steel, were removed from the systems.
In May 2023, the final stage of the project started: the separation of systems into two data centers - the main and reserve. One will house the main productive servers, the other - their replicas. This diversity is done to improve the fault tolerance of the solution. It is planned that the main data center will be located directly on the territory of Ural Steel, and the private cloud will be used as a backup.
