On May 18, 2023, the Chinese company Huawei announced the Children's Watch 5 smart wristwatch designed specifically for children. One of the features of the novelty is the ability to determine the location of a child without an Internet connection.

The device received a 1.3-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 240×240 pixels. The equipment includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless adapters, as well as a 4G/LTE module for connecting to cellular networks. On the right side of the case is a physical control button. Two color options are available - purple and green.

The offline positioning function is based on the use of Huawei's ecosystem of devices around the world, as well as the overall capabilities of the gadget's software and hardware. In addition, a system for high-precision location determination in real time using artificial intelligence algorithms is implemented: in this case, about ten parameters are taken into account - data/ GPS/GLONASS, Beidou signals from Wi-Fi access points and base stations of mobile networks, etc. The more often the watch owner is in the same area, the more accurate the readings will be. Parents can receive notifications whenever a child is in a certain zone - for example, gets to school or returns home. In addition, it is possible to determine the location inside large buildings - shopping centers, airports, medical institutions, etc.

The watch is protected from moisture and dust according to the IPX8 standard. They received a 2-megapixel camera with smooth calling function. Dimensions are 52×42,6×14,3 mm, weight - 55 g along with the strap. Power is provided by a battery with a capacity of 800 mA·ch with fast charging. Children will be able to access an extensive library of audiobooks, educational applications and various content. The estimated price of Huawei Children's Watch 5 is $100.^[1]
