2023: Siemens Healthineers bought Block Imaging

On May 24, 2023, the German manufacturer of medical equipment Siemens Healthineers and the American network of non-profit hospitals CommonSpirit Health announced the conclusion of an agreement on the purchase of Block Imaging.

Block Imaging, founded in 1997, specializes in the supply of restored medical equipment and spare parts for it. The main activity is visualization systems. The company is headquartered in Lansing (Michigan, USA), and representative offices are located in different regions around the world. Block Imaging serves customers in more than a hundred countries. The supplied parts meet the requirements of ISO 9001.

The agreement, as noted in an official statement, will help meet the growing demand from hospitals, health systems and other medical institutions for imaging equipment and services. Block Imaging will provide repair and further use of equipment, which will extend its service life and reduce waste. At the same time, medical organizations will be able to save money on the purchase of new expensive devices.

This acquisition strengthens our efforts to provide reliable and affordable health care in the communities we serve and is also in line with our commitment to delivering sustainable health care industry operations, "said Marvin O'Quinn, President and COO of CommonSpirit Health.

Under the agreement, Block Imaging will continue to supply parts to customers throughout the United States. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but it is said that its closure depends on obtaining the necessary permits, including from regulatory authorities.^[1]
