The "Forest Guard" video monitoring system began to work in Ugra. This was announced on May 31, 2023 by the Department of Information Technologies of Ugra.

The software and hardware complex for remote monitoring and early detection of fires in Ugra was jointly developed and introduced by the Department of Information Technologies of Ugra, Depnedra and Natural Resources of Ugra, as well as Rostelecom.

The main task of the system is to detect smoke and natural fires. The equipment allows you to detect fires at an early stage, notify fire extinguishing services in automatic mode and track the spread of fire.

At the end of May 2023, within the framework of the contract, Rostelecom has already mounted 76 new points of the Lesograzhitel video monitoring system. Cameras are installed near settlements in nine districts of Ugra. Installation work is ongoing. In general, 82 video devices, including previously installed ones, will protect the forests of Ugra.

The creation of a software and hardware complex will identify potential fires at the earliest stage. As soon as the "Forest Guard" detects signs of fire, a signal will be received from the attendant about the potential occurrence of a fire. In this case, the exact coordinates of the detection site, photo and video information for analysis will be transmitted. The duty officer, having analyzed the information received, makes a decision on the need to send emergency services to the place of potential fire occurrence. Obtaining such up-to-date and reliable information will help save the lives of Ugra residents and their homes from fires, as well as more effectively preserve the forests of Ugra. In addition, the speed of response to the only fire that has arisen will allow it to be quickly localized and eliminated, which in turn will significantly reduce the cost of extinguishing measures. I also want to note that the software package allows you to make management decisions and effectively interact with all departments that participate in monitoring, extinguishing fires and managing the forest industry in the region as a whole.
