2023: Loss - 4 billion yuan

At the end of 2023, the Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor Group received a net loss of approximately 4 billion yuan ($553.23 million at the exchange rate as of April 1, 2024). For comparison, a year earlier, the company showed a net profit of 10.27 billion yuan ($1.42 billion). This is stated in the financial report published at the end of March 2024.

It is noted that the company's revenue amounted to 99.32 billion yuan - approximately $13.74 billion. This is 7.2% more than the result of the previous year, when the company received 92.66 billion yuan. The report said that the profit of Dongfeng Motor Group joint ventures fell to 513 million yuan ($70.95 million) from 11.88 billion yuan in 2022.

Dongfeng Motor Group made a net loss of approximately 4 billion yuan

Sales of Dongfeng cars decreased on an annualized basis by 15% - to 2.1 million units. Including sales of cars produced jointly with Nissan fell by 21.5%, together with Honda - by 8.5%. The group's export business saw growth, with shipments of 169,100 units, up 14.3% year-on-year and achieving the best result in the company's history.

Dongfeng has created three main passenger car platforms: M Tech architecture for SUVs, Dongfeng Quantum with electrified units and energy-saving DSMA architecture, the report said.

The passenger car business of Dongfeng Motor Group is mainly carried out within its own divisions such as M Tech, Voyah Automobile, Dongfeng Aeolus and Dongfeng Liuzhou Automobile, as well as in joint ventures such as Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Honda. In the commercial sector, operations are conducted by Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co., Dongfeng Motor Automobile Co., Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Co., Dongfeng Special Commercial Vehicle Co., and Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co.[1]
