2023: Development of the "Immunization Calendar"

In six regions of the Russian Federation (Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Smolensk, Tambov regions, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Krasnoyarsk Territory), the Immunization Calendar has been introduced, the functionality of which allows monitoring the timing of vaccination and revaccination of the population and preventing outbreaks of dangerous infectious diseases. The company "TechLAB" announced this on June 6, 2023.

In Russia, in 2022, the infectious incidence increased seriously: the incidence of newly diagnosed tuberculosis increased by 10%, acute hepatitis (type A, B, C) increased by 45%, and the incidence of measles increased 40 times.

Until now, the most reliable and effective means of immunoprophylaxis of these and other infectious diseases is vaccination, for the inclusive and systematic implementation of which the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation approved the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations and the Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations for Epidemic Indications. These calendars determine the regulations for vaccination against diseases such as influenza, measles, rubella, tuberculosis, hepatitis B, tetanus, coronavirus, and the development of immunity to some of them requires a second, third or even fourth vaccination after a certain period of time.

In order to comply with the established deadlines and promptly invite patients at risk for primary vaccination or revaccination, doctors need special digital tools that would aggregate the necessary information on the population attached to a specific clinic and offer both personal recommendations for immunization and reminders in accordance with the established deadlines.

We have developed functionality that allows you to track and control the timing of vaccination and revaccination in accordance with the approved schedules of preventive vaccinations, - said Alexander Shapovalov, director of the TechLAB IT company.

He explained that users of the subsystem - doctors or health care organizers - see a separate block in the patient's card that reflects information on already made or planned vaccinations. The list of vaccinations corresponds to one of the two calendars approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, and the subsystem receives information about whether a specific patient has been vaccinated from structured electronic medical documents (SAMD) coming from hospitals and polyclinics in the region.

In other words, if a subsystem for preventive medical care is introduced in the region, which also includes the Immunization Calendar component, then the patient can be vaccinated in any medical organization in his region: the data on this case, entered into the hospital's medical information system (MIS), will quickly go to the subsystem, and the doctor will see when this patient can be invited to revaccination, - said Alexander Shapovalov.

In the "Immunization Calendar" itself, information on vaccinations appears along with an assessment of the date of its implementation in accordance with the official regulations: the system will highlight cases of violation of the deadlines when the revaccination was carried out late or was not carried out at all.

In addition, the organizers also receive access to data and analytics: using the health care"Immunization Calendar" and special reports, they can determine what percentage of the population was vaccinated against a particular infection. All this is extremely important information to prevent outbreaks of dangerous diseases.
