2025: Installation of new road cameras for 800 million rubles

JSC "Tambov Network Company" (TSK) announced a second tender for the lease of technical means of automatic recording (TSAF) of traffic violations with the possibility of photo and video shooting. The initial price of the contract, as at previous tenders, is ₽799,9 million. Information about this in September 2025 appeared on the public procurement portal. The winner of the competition will have to deliver 200 TSAF - 138 stationary, 40 mobile and 22 mobile. The customer is ready to pay ₽34,8 million per month for the TSAF lease. The term for the performance of services is until August 31, 2027.^[1]

2025: Schools and universities of the Tambov region received equipment worth ₽285 million for training in the development and production of UAVs

18 educational institutions of the Tambov region received specialized equipment for the training of schoolchildren and students in the creation, production and operation of unmanned aircraft systems for a total of ₽285 million. Investments were carried out within the framework of a specialized national project on unmanned aviation systems starting from January 1, 2024. Acting Vice Governor for Economics Natalia Makarevich announced this in early September 2025.

According to the press service of the government of the Tambov region, in parallel, six unmanned aerial vehicles with a total value of ₽9 million were purchased for the regional forestry departments. The purchase of drones is aimed at improving the effectiveness of forest monitoring and fire safety control.

Olga Kamneva, Deputy Minister of Economic and Investment Policy of the Tambov Region, Head of the Department of Investment Activities and Foreign Economic Relations, announced plans to create infrastructure to ensure mass drone flights and a service protection model. The concept was discussed with the leadership of Aerolink LLC at the design and educational intensity Archipelago 2025 in Skolkovo.

Specific parameters of the infrastructure project were not disclosed. Regional authorities plan to prepare an application for additional federal funding for the construction of infrastructure for unmanned aircraft systems within the framework of the relevant national project.

Equipping educational institutions with modern equipment for studying unmanned technologies is aimed at training qualified personnel for a dynamically developing industry. Students and schoolchildren will have the opportunity to study the design, assembly and control processes of drones for various purposes.^[2]

2023: Theft of a VTB ATM in a shopping mall

In Tambov in May 2023, unknown persons stole a VTB ATM with 5 million rubles from the shopping center in the middle of the night. After that, he was found in the forest under the city - but without money. The security guard of the shopping center slept tightly and did not notice anything.
