2023: Implementing Big Data Analysis and Processing Solutions

Softline Group of Companies on June 22, 2023 announced a comprehensive project for the Siberian State Medical University (SibGMU). As a result, solutions for analyzing and processing big data from medical equipment and information systems were introduced in the multidisciplinary clinic of SibGMU in order to manage the operational and financial effectiveness of medical processes, including in intensive care units. The solution was created on the basis of two Russian systems - the digital interactive analytical system (TSIAS) and the resuscitation and anesthesiological information system (RAIS).

As a result of the introduction of systems in the clinic, the collection and analysis of data coming from life-supporting medical equipment in intensive care, as well as during surgical operations, was automated. Now the customer can predict the dynamics of treatment and economic indicators for the departments of the clinic, control patient flows and bed capacity, as well as make revenue forecasts and estimate the load of medical specialists. In addition, the target task of the project was completed - the working conditions of the medical staff were improved, primarily in the busiest and most emergency departments of the SibGMU clinic. The use of information systems CIAS and RAIS allowed the client to reduce the time for paper work and improve the quality of medical documentation, and most importantly - to strengthen control over the condition of patients and make timely medical decisions to improve it.

Striving for more comfortable conditions for its staff and patients, SibGMU consistently introduces advanced digital technologies. To facilitate the work of anesthesiologists and resuscitators, the clinic chose the solution of the Russian developer QuattroLab, which ensured the automation of data collection from medical equipment. The digital interactive analytical system of the DBA vendor was helped by Softline Group of companies experts. CIAS was deployed and configured by the Softline team in conjunction with DBA and was first used as an analytical platform for the university. Subsequently, CIAS began to be used for the needs of the clinics of SibGMU.

When choosing systems, the customer voiced the following requirements: solutions should be Russian and provide the possibility of integration with medical information systems used in clinics. In addition, the client considered only local systems installed on the server (with a permanent software license). Compatibility with various equipment was also important. All these requirements were met by the QuattroLab LLC system. Thus, the RAIS system provides compatibility with almost any equipment of both Russian and foreign production, allows you to organize a workplace on any computer or tablet connected to the network of a medical institution.

The choice of DBA CIAS was due to the large functionality of the system - its ability to visualize large amounts of data in real time in the form of interactive tables and diagrams and standardize reporting. The system allows you to present data over time, both on an organization-wide basis, and detail it to a single specialist and department.

RAIS and TSIAS are included in the register of Russian software.

{{quote 'Our client SibGMU is interested in introducing technologies and consistently implements a plan for the digital transformation of the university and subordinate clinics. Therefore, it was important for us to implement such a large-scale and comprehensive project. As for the CIAS, the client highly appreciated the capabilities of the interactive system. It allows the customer to set the required number of levels of data detail, display retrospective and planned values   in comparison with current values, receive and update data at a given frequency, and there is a distinction of access rights. As of June 2023, a portal for interactive data processing of multidisciplinary clinics of SibGMU is located in the infrastructure of SibGMU. With the help of the CIAS, the customer can daily assess the main economic indicators of the work of a multidisciplinary clinic - the dynamics of hospitalization and bed capacity indicators (downtime in departments, the number of occupied beds, the structure of diagnoses). To accommodate the second system - RAIS - we equipped two workplaces: in the intensive care unit and in the small operating room. Anesthesiologists quickly adapted to the system and noted a significant reduction in paperwork time and an increase in the quality of medical record keeping. So, before the introduction of the RAIS system, doctors in the operating room were forced to enter up to 50 parameters of the patient's condition and records of drug therapy manually - now this process is fully automated. In the future, the client plans to scale the solution, - said Alina Derbeneva, account manager of the department for working with state and academic organizations of Softline Group of Companies. }}

Thanks to the Softline team, we were able to automate important processes on which the work of the entire clinical complex and the well-being of patients depend. The implementation of these systems allows us to practice a modern approach to the organization of the health care system. Thus, the CIAS helps us to analyze organizational and economic indicators and, on the basis of this analysis, competently build health care management in our clinics. The use of RAIS has allowed us to solve a number of other problems. With the help of the system, we were able to get away from paper forms of maintaining the assignment sheet and documents. At the same time, doctors can view the electronic map from any computer, which makes it easier to track the condition of patients from the operating room and intensive care units. The system also provides us with data, on the basis of which we determine the load of bed capacity and resuscitation equipment. In addition, the electronic format of prescription sheets, anesthesiological and intensive care cards, automation of data collection from medical equipment lead to a decrease in the risks of medical errors, to more accurate observation and analysis of patient dynamics. The calculators built into the system make the necessary calculations using various scales to assess the current condition of the patient. Thus, we have the opportunity to automate the accounting of drugs, filling out journals and protocols of blood transfusions, calculating hydrobalance, etc., which allows the medical staff to devote more time to people under treatment. Moreover, the university plans to actively use RAIS for scientific and statistical purposes, as, for example, in the policy of open data. This will allow the university to solve epidemiology problems and carry out projects in the field of artificial intelligence. We appreciate our IT partner Softline Group of companies and see great promise in our cooperation. In 2023, together with Softline experts, we launched the development of a computer game for motor rehabilitation of people after suffering acute cerebrovascular accidents, - said Ivan Tolmachev, leading researcher at the scientific and educational laboratory "Bionic Digital Platforms" of the Siberian State Medical University.
