2023: Appointment as CEO of Mars in Russia

In July 2023, it became known about the appointment of Mikhail Bazanov as the new head of the Russian division. Mars Previously, this post was held by Mahera Batruni.

The Russian division of Mars told Kommersant that Batruni moved to a new role within the company, and Bazanov, in addition to heading Mars LLC, also became the general director of Mars Wrigley Russia. Bazanov, before being appointed to a new position, was the general director of the Mars headquarters in Central Eurasia, Belarus and Turkey.

Mikhail Bazanov became one of the two presidents of Mars LLC. The post of the second is held by Valery Shchapov, who runs Mars Petcare in Russia.

Galina Spasenova, partner of Kontakt InterSearch Russia, notes that rotation of personnel among divisions is typical for multinational companies. The main challenges for the new president will be to build relations with local top management, as well as to establish business contacts with key partners in the country, she believes. Mikhail Bazanov previously worked at the Russian Mars, because its adaptation should be quick and painless, the expert adds.

Rusbrand executive director Alexei Popovichev says that the main difficulties that the new leader in the Russian market could have had were held by local players in 2022. This is a restructuring of logistics, the search for new channels for the supply of raw materials, etc., he points out. Mars, for example, reduced the Orbit range due to problems with ingredients and logistical changes, the newspaper notes.

By mid-July 2023, Mars has factories in five regions in Russia, as well as one scientific center for the study of pet nutrition. The company employs about 6 thousand employees. The company produces sweets under the brands M&M's, Snickers, Twix, Orbit chewing gum, Pedigree animal food, Whiskas, Royal Canin, Sheba, Cesar, etc.[1]
