Tens of thousands of defective Tesla electric drinks have parts falling off while driving

Tesla again faced serious problems in the production of its Cybertruck electric drinks, as a result of which it was decided to recall more than 23 thousand cars. This became known on June 25, 2024. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration USA (NHTSA), a significant number of cars have been found to have defects that can create a danger on the road.

Almost 11.7 thousand electric drinks have a malfunction of the windshield wiper drive electric motor, which can significantly worsen the driver's visibility and increase the risk of accidents. The problem concerns all machines produced from November 13, 2023 to June 6, 2024.

More than 11.38 thousand cars are recalled due to a defect in the trunk lining, which may be incorrectly attached. As Interfax notes, such a malfunction can lead to the fact that the skin will come off while driving, creating a danger to other road users.

Tesla officials said they have not yet received reports of an accident, injury or death related to those defects. However, to prevent possible incidents, the company decided to carry out a free replacement of faulty parts.

According to Interfax, Cybertruck owners will be officially notified of the recall starting August 18. As part of the recall program, Tesla will offer free replacement of windshield wiper motors.

This is Cybertruck's second major recall in the last six months of 2024. Earlier, in April 2024, several owners reported problems with the accelerator pedal, which also led to the recall of a significant number of cars. In addition, users continue to complain about a variety of technical problems, including problems with wipers and coolant leaks.[1]

Recall of thousands of pickup trucks due to falling off gas pedal

On April 17, 2024 USA , the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall of electric pickups. Tesla Cybertruck The problem is related to the accelerator pedal, which can fall off during movement. This increases the risk of a traffic accident.

Tesla said in a statement that all Cybertruck cars of the 2024 model range are subject to recall. Such pickups were produced from November 13, 2023 to April 4, 2024. The defect leads to the fact that when you press the gas pedal, the decorative metal pad can be disconnected from it. There is a possibility that this cover can then get stuck between the pedal and the interior skin. As a result, the pedal is blocked, which makes control of the car deteriorate. In certain conditions, this can provoke an accident.

The recall affects 3878 Cybertruck electric drinks. Moreover, the described problem is relevant for all these machines. Tesla emphasizes that in case of problems with the accelerator pedal, the driver can press the brake at any time, which will stop the car. In this case, the onboard computer will give audio and visual signals that both the gas pedal and the brake pedal are simultaneously pressed.

Depending on the case, Tesla will perform a repair or complete replacement of the accelerator pedal assembly. In the first case, the procedure will take no more than 15 minutes, in the second - approximately 40 minutes. All work will be carried out free of charge for motorists. Cybertruck owners can sign up for service using the Tesla app. It is noted that at the time of the start of the recall campaign, there were no reports of any incidents or accidents related to the indicated problem.[2]

2023: The range of the Tesla Cybertruck electric drink was half the declared

In mid-July 2023, it became known that the actual range of the Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup truck was approximately half that declared during the presentation of the car in 2019.

During the announcement of the project, it was said that Cybertruck will be released with four power platform options. It is a single-engine rear-wheel drive with a range of 250 miles (402 km); four-wheel drive with two engines and a range of 300 miles (483 km); three-engine four-wheel drive with a range of 500 miles (804 km); four-engine four-wheel drive with a range of 620 miles (998 km). Serial production of the Cybertruck electric pickup began in July 2023 at the Tesla plant in Texas.

According to the resource InsideEVs, the Cybertruck battery pack is capable of providing a range of 350 miles (563 km) instead of the mentioned 620 miles. For comparison, the range of the Chevrolet Silverado EV electric pickup truck is 450 miles (724 km). And the Ford F-150 Lightning electric car, when equipped with the Extended-Range package, provides a maximum range on a single charge of 320 miles (515 km).

Deutsche Bank analyst Emmanuel Rosner believes that in 2023 Tesla will deliver approximately 2,000 copies of the Cybertruck, which is a small part of the 1.78 million cars that Elon Musk's company intends to ship at the end of this year. At the same time, Tesla admits that it will not be easy to increase the production volumes of the pickup truck, since its unique design creates certain difficulties. In particular, difficulties are associated with the manufacture and assembly of a stainless steel body.

It will be difficult to make the price available because it is a new car, a new method of production. By and large, compared to the production volumes of all our cars, the production of a pickup truck will be small. But still very cool, - said Musk.[3]
