2023: Launch of the Gulf Stream Production Management System

Weaving equipment manufacturer Tekstilmash (part of the Tekhmashholding group of companies) has begun introducing the Gulf Stream production management system developed by ASCON. The project is accompanied by the Regional ASCON Volga Center. The company ASCON announced this on July 27, 2023.

With this MES solution, the company plans to increase production efficiency by controlling the load of workshops and equipment, and reduce the time to fulfill orders by evenly loading production capacities. Defect control for July 2023, and not at the end of the month, will reduce defects and improve the quality of product assembly. Another task for the Gulf Stream is to establish planning for the purchase of materials and spare parts and more accurately manage stocks in order to reduce production costs.

Previously, production management at the enterprise was automated based on a proprietary system written more than 25 years ago on the DOS platform. The outdated solution did not cope with complex tasks, which negatively affected the timing of orders and planning production costs.

When choosing the MES system, Tekstilmash took into account both the capabilities of the Gulf Stream itself and its integration with the systems Pilot: PLM and POLYNOM: MDM, which automate the management of engineering data and [[[information|regulatory reference information]] of the enterprise in the PLM circuit.

It was important for us that software products from one developer help to solve our problems as much as possible without connecting additional software. First of all, we took up the active introduction of the Gulf Stream, since during the R&D under the program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the most relevant was to integrate new orders for the manufacture of parts into the existing production chain,
said Stepan Malyshev, head of the technological department of Tekstilmash.

The experience of working with the enterprise turned out to be really interesting, which allowed both Tekstilmash and ASCON specialists to develop together. Thanks to the high initiative of the customer, an ambitious and risky, but at the same time bold decision was made to implement and launch the Gulf Stream and, in general, the ASCON PLM complex on its own. At the same time, the company understands that this is not an easy and long process, therefore, it calmly addresses the difficulties and wishes that arise to our technical support, and is also ready, if necessary, to connect technical specialists of the ASCON Volga Regional Center for the implementation of difficult tasks, training specialists and system administration.
noted Sergey Bazarov, project manager, ASCON Volga.
