2023: Ready for Production

In Russia, the production of a new self-propelled anti-tank gun "Sprut-SDM-1" (model 2S25M) with guided missiles capable of destroying any tanks begins. This was announced in mid-August 2023 by the High-Precision Complexes company, which includes the Kurgan Machine-Building Plant (Kurganmashzavod), which developed this product.

According to RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the holding, state tests of the 125-mm self-propelled anti-tank gun have 2S25M been completed. The machine is ready for mass production. After inclusion in the state defense order, the product will be launched into a series, the company said.

According to the developers, the Sprut-SDM-1 machine during the tests showed high water-carrying qualities during inspections in the Black Sea, demonstrated the possibility of transportation by large landing ships, the possibility of a complex of weapons afloat. The gun, in particular, passed sea trials in the amount of eight thousand kilometers, firing tests were carried out during the entire period of state tests at each stage.

The self-propelled anti-tank gun has a combat weight of 18 tons, it is capable of reaching speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour by land and up to 10 kilometers per hour by water. 2S25M is equipped with the latest fire control system and a powerful 125 mm gun - a guided missile launcher that allows it to hit all modern main tanks in the world.

In May 2023, at Kurganmashzavod, RIA Novosti reported that deliveries to the troops of modernized self-propelled anti-tank guns of 2S25M, which correspond to the T-90MS tank in terms of firepower, could begin in 2024.[1]
