2023: Commissioning of an import-independent baggage handling system in the terminal segment T2

Moscow Domodedovo Airport has put into operation a comprehensive import-independent baggage handling system in the new segment of the T2 terminal to serve international flights. The project was implemented in a technological partnership with Reksoft, a Russian multidisciplinary technology group. This was announced on August 14, 2023 by representatives of Reksoft.

The commissioning of a new segment of the Domodedovo airport terminal was completed. The system's equipment was supplied by a foreign supplier, Vanderlande Industries. Specialized system management software was supplied by Reksoft. As a result of the combined work of Domodedovo and Reksoft, the task of introducing and launching the most complex software and hardware complex at all levels was solved - from automation and controllers to the upper level control system. The decision of Reksoft made it possible to ensure the technological independence of the control systems of Domodedovo Airport.

The automated baggage sorting system (ASSB) performs a comprehensive task of check-in, sorting, inspection and delivery of baggage on board the aircraft, as well as baggage claim to passengers upon arrival. The system includes 88 check-ins, an extensive baggage transportation network, a 5-level baggage inspection system, security and customs inspection systems, and a multi-level baggage storage system.

According to representatives of "Reksoft," ASSB is "the only high-tech complex of a new type in Russia, built on the basis of modern TUBTRAX technology." The technology allows you to handle luggage in individual trolleys-trays with high speed and accuracy. The speed of baggage transportation in such a system is 3 times more than in a regular one. Thus, with a total handling of 6,000 baggage units per hour, the handling time of one baggage unit from the check-in desk to the onboard loading is 14 minutes.

The baggage storage subsystem is designed for 1,100 seats, includes 12 three-meter racks, between which robots move along special rails, distributing luggage to the desired cells. As a result, passengers can be sure that even with long connections or early check-in, their luggage will be delivered to the desired flight.

"For the launch and commissioning of the complex, our latest solutions in the field of software for managing airport systems are used. The entire software complex is completely domestic and is able to control modern equipment of a high level of complexity. All work on the introduction and commissioning was carried out in a short time, "said Alexander Semenov, Director of the Transport and Logistics Department of Reksoft.

"The baggage handling system launched by the joint team was configured for the business processes of Domodedovo Airport. And if earlier foreign vendors offered Russian customers "ready-made solutions" with minimal adaptation capabilities, then in the new segment of the terminal T2 there is a large-scale import-independent system, made completely according to the requirements of us as a customer and taking into account all specialized Russian sorting and inspection standards, "- said Konstantin Glushenkov, senior engineer of the main production of Domodedovo airport.
