China Mobile Cloud Quantum Computing Platform

2023: Platform Launch

On August 19, 2023, China's largest cloud quantum computing platform began operations. It is expected that the system will speed up the solution of resource-intensive tasks in various areas, including the aerospace industry and the transport sector.

The project involves the Chinese telecommunications company China Mobile and the state-owned corporation China Electronics Technology Group, which specializes in the production of communications, electronics, military and special-purpose software. It is noted that the deployed cloud infrastructure is the first system-level platform in the industry, providing the possibility of unified use of quantum technologies and classical computing resources.

The initiative will provide public cloud quantum computing services based on the 20-qubit quantum computer China Electronics Technology Group. Qubits can simultaneously take the value of both logical zero and logical one. This makes it possible for certain tasks to repeatedly improve performance compared to computers with classical architecture.

An open environment for testing quantum computing has been formed on the basis of the launched cloud platform. It can be accessed by universities, various scientific organizations and enterprises that conduct research in the field of quantum technology. The platform will quickly solve complex computing problems in the fields of artificial intelligence, biomedicine, smart transport and aerospace technology. The size of investments in the deployment of this infrastructure is not reported by China Mobile and China Electronics Technology Group.^[1]
