2023:80% of Russians call Russia a great country

According to the survey, 80% of Russians are included in the list of great countries of Russia. For 63% of respondents, China is a great country, closing the top three of the United States with 30% of the vote.

Over the past twenty years, this rating has undergone very significant changes: in 2002, the United States ranked first with 62%, Russia was called great only 43%, and the third place was in favor at all Japan (37% versus the current 9%).

Moreover, the range of options was much higher: now for the fourth place India turned out to be enough 14%, and Japan for the fifth, which it shared with Britain, - 9%. Two decades ago, Germany gained 32% (which gave it 4th place), Britain - 27% (as now, fifth place).

2022: Budget expenditures on patriotic education of Russians tripled to 11.4 billion rubles

In 2022, 11.4 billion rubles were allocated from the federal budget of Russia for patriotic education of the population, which is three times more than a year earlier (3.4 billion rubles). Izvestia writes about this on August 23, 2023, citing the conclusion of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children.

The publication says that the funds are aimed at paying for the work of advisers to directors for education and interaction with children's public associations. In 2022, 8.8 thousand rates of these specialists were opened in 49 regions. The money went to "the development and implementation of a set of measures aimed at developing a system of civil and patriotic education of students."

11 thousand schools with the money of the treasury purchased sets of state symbols. By the end of 2023, such kits will be available in more than 33 thousand educational institutions. Officials spent budget money on thematic patriotic events. For example, 3.5 million children participated in the work of the Russian Movement of Schoolchildren (included in the Movement of the First), more than 2.2 million participated in other patriotic events. About 4 million school students joined the Big Change competition.

At the same time, the amount of expenses for the upbringing of patriotism is not so great, says Boris Ilyukhin, head of the research center for education quality assessment and management systems of the Federal Institute for the Development of Education of the RANEPA. He noted that in 2022 the authorities spent more than 1.23 trillion rubles on education - therefore, spending on patriotic education accounts for less than a percent of this expenditure item.

The press service of the Ministry of Education "Izvestia" did not comment on the increase in funds, but reported that the project "Patriotic Education" involves comprehensive work - to develop infrastructure, personnel potential, as well as "support interesting, high-quality patriotic programs and projects for children and youth." In addition, the federal project provides for an annual grant competition for NGOs to hold patriotic events with the participation of children and youth.[1]
